Harder to when he's shoved at LM if that's the case
Think his continued use on the left shows how he's thought of as a central midfield options, especially when there are more natural options for that left sided role.

Max as captain FFS... as inspirational as a haemorroid. Why not Dawson?

Aside from that not a bad team, especially with RAN and Raul out for whatever reasons. Lemina, Gomes and Nunes surely have potential on paper, and at least Cunha is playing with a striker

I'm hoping it's something like,

................................Sa
Semedo.....Dawson....Kilman......Toti.
...........................Lemina.
.............. Gomes..............Nunes.
.......Podence.........................Cunha.
............................Costa.

Assuming it's a version of 433 then it's not a wtf selection, but does have minor irritations. Costa isn't going to do 90 mins so Raul should be on the bench. 70 mins of Bueno at left back is better than starting Toti there. B Traore should be ahead of Hodge benchwise

Guessing Bouba isn't fit enough yet, despite being 'almost' ready for what seems like weeks

Clearly JL isn't happy with Rauls or RANs attitude for some reason.

Got to be 4-3-3 given that lineup. Not sure why Bueno isn't fit to start, or Costa is.

Max as Captain has to be a “maybe he’ll rise to the challenge” thing. Only explanation I can think of.

Not that I think who wears an armband really matters all that much, really. Leaders tend to be leaders with or without an extra strip of elastic.

Costa giving us more up front in 7 minutes than we’ve had in 7 weeks.

Lampard also proving his tactical mastery by choosing NOT to pressure Kilman.

We look alright with the ball to be fair.

Excellent turn under pressure and diagonal ball afterwards from Kilman. Whisper it softly but he’s done well so far (albeit under little pressure from Chelsea overall).

Great wing play from Nunes there, actually. Cross just inches away from Cunha.

He's having a good game over on the right side.

We’ve been kind of excellent?

Ugh. West Ham winning at Fulham.

Was that a pen just?

Edit - Fofana lucky there IMO.
