If saiss starts as a defender it means in two weeks, 4 out of our 4 midfielders are playing 95 minutes for 3 games and 3 out of 4 are playing 95 minutes for another 2. Unless he plays CB for 60-70 minutes or so, then gets put into the place of whichever midfielder comes off to be replaced by jesus, who then slots into saiss's position. And we have a further 2 important games in 3 days after that. I understand saiss would be the logical choice but we have a ridiculous amount of games coming up and only 4 viable center midfielders

I wouldnt worry about the Reading game.

The issue with Jesus is, at the moment we dont seem to think he is ready for the Prem (no even getting on the bench) so do you put him in for his Prem debut on the wrong side of the defence?

Even if we rest everyone important for reading, which I dont think nuno will do, and saiss starts as CB, we still need jesus to play 20,30 mins at the closing of every game and saiss will have to move up unless you think nobody of the back or central three will come off. I dont see what other option there is.

Saturday-Thursday-Sunday-(Wednesday)-Saturday-Thursday-Sunday is our run to the next international break. It's not that bad.

Honestly, we won't play many of the regular first XI vs Reading. Fewer than four I would say. We went relatively strong in Nuno's first two seasons in the League Cup but it is firmly fourth out of four in our priorities this year.

Also Boly is only banned for this game. He's back after that.

Boly is out for 1 game, so it wont make much difference with how Nuno uses the defence and midfield from the Braga game.

Edit- but it goes to show how fucked we are if someone gets a straight red or we get an injury to one of the central back or mid three. This is why I was having a meltdown we didnt sign an experienced center mid.

I think they see Jordao and Shabani as midfielders along with MGW. All 3 can play a part in the coming weeks. I thought Jordao looked very useful for the U23's and MGW can play at the top level even if it is only against Reading and Braga (for 20 minutes).

Some folk on here think Neto was a joke signing and that clearly isn't the case so I have no reason to think either Jordao or Shabani aren't either and both could step up to squad level.

I hope we get the ball on the deck for this and stop humping it long. Get back to doing what we do best with our best available XI.

Yep. The Jota role but I think his long term future is playing behind the front 2

He was a lot better playing behind Samuels and BAS against Leicester. Very much an advanced midfielder linking with Jordoa who played deeper.

So you wouldn't have signed Neves, Jota, Vinagre, Cutrone or Neto in that case. You'd have rather signed Grant Hanley, Jonjo Shelvey and any other assorted dross?

I do like it when your contrary bollocks is shown up. Moutinho was a first team player for Monaco when he came to Wolves. A European Champion no less.

Yea,you don't win anything with kids,as famously said by a TV pundit,anyway,if the kids are good enough,they're old enough

Moutinho was deemed surplus which is why he was sold to us for a paltry 5m. Want more players like him, plenty of rich teams sign superstars and quality older players are deemed surplus. Leicester got huth, fuchs, drinkwater, etc all deemed surplus. Even kante was on the cheap. Im all for talented youth if we can get genuine first team talent, ie tammy abraham whom we failed to sign. I dont want to play u21 players who arent ready just because we dont have enough experienced first team players.
