Huddersfield is the outlier. Otherwise we are picking up points everywhere regardless of a team's position.

Yes it is a disappointing result. Yes we would all like to see us beating teams below us week in week out. Yes. That is not going to happen.

At least the performance wasn't terrible. Was a little concerned we rested some players but hey ho. I'd rather loose to Burnley and beat Man U.

But we've already played them once and won, why can't we include that? You never failed to include teams that we hadn't played twice when we lost to them in the first fixture as that is how you miscontrued the facts to fit your superstition. You're only consistent in the sense that you bang on about certain events happening because of magic rather than providing a footballing explanation.

Please check out the comparison of results against the bottom six by us Bournemouth leceister palace Watford, west ham , those vying for best of the rest. Clue. We have the worse record. By some distance.

Please show me one post where I have said matches are won or lost by magic?

I have said Huddersfield are a jinx. People don't agree. We are dogshit against them whatever division. I have said that we have an issue this last few years of fucking it up against the bottom sides. People disagree we debate it. The best wolves side in 40 years and we lose twice to a club relegated in march, once to the sides third and fourth from bottom and it outrageous of me to suggest we might have an issue?

People take the piss as I do get nervous, havee superstitions, consult the runes and I confess I play on it on here for a bit of banter. But people like you slagging it off as " cyber believes in fairies so its bullshit" is just stupid. Look at the facts, look at the stats, concede its an area we really must improve on next season if we are to kick on and stop dissing it because your belief system is different to mine.

Thought we played well but also played within ourselves. Nobody took the game by the scruff of the neck.

Once we went 3-4-3 we lost the midfield and then conceded that stupid goal which killed the game.

Burnley played well, no issues at all with them. That's how to play against us.

Woooooosh!

Fact we have the best record of any side outside the big six against the big six.
Fact we have the worse record of any side outside the bottom 6 against the bottom 6

But you keep saying the sky is pink and cybers nuts

It's a bit arbitrary though isn't it, materially there isn't much difference between Palace, Newcastle and Brighton. But two of them don't count because they're marginally and possibly temporarily slightly higher in the table.

Exactly!!!!!!!

That's the issue.

The worse sides set up like that and we can't deal with it. Then a better side like Watford does that and are capable of beating us. So as it keeps happening can we please work out what to do about it before Watford play like Burnley and dump us out of the cup?

We also have the BEST record by a mile against the teams vying to be best of the rest.

Hence why we are seventh

Whooosh in-fucking-deed

OK. Palace we win away, lose at home. Unusual given that home form is generally better.
Brighton fluked their win.
Newcastle we fluked 4 points with two goals in stoppage time. Whilst it was fantastic to see Benitez suffer we didn't deserve it.

We have had a fantastic season. Personally I think we are higher than we deserve to be given the teams we have lost too. But, we have had some really stunning games against the bigger sides in league's and cup that allows supporters to forgive the games where we fucked up for whatever reason. I wm OK with any fan giving that argument but denying the issue exists cannot ever be right.

You are missing the point though, which for me at least, is that if we'd have played how we know we are capable of playing in 5 or 6 games against pretty woeful opposition, we'd be comfortably challenging for an automatic place in Europe. Which to all but those wearing the goldest of gold tinted spectacles is a little frustrating.

We are seventh because we have taken 24 points from the teams directly below us

It's only really one season though isn't it. And some fluke results can happen, even over a full season. I'm not saying Hudds didn't deserve their wins against us. I think they did overall. I just don't see why it's such a problem. We'll play better than today and still loose and we'll play worse and win. I don't see some underlying problem. If there is one it will get fixed, if not by NES and his team then by their successors.

And where could/would we be if we'd taken the points from those games against the bottom 6 teams? That is the point you seem to be choosing to repeatedly ignore. I think we are where we are now on merit, we have been superb in a great number of games. But to simply ignore the poor games against the poor teams and just say "We are 7th" is obstinate and completely misses the point.

How was the matchday thread? Negative?

Ultimately who we take points isn't that relevant - it's how many we get & where we finish that is important.

If we haven't performed as well as we could against the teams below us then that's something to deal with next season

God this argument is tedious. People deliberately missing the point for some unknown reason.

Paddy had stated our record against the bottom 6 excluding Huddersfield is good. It isn’t.

If we exclude Huddersfield because it’s the “outlier” we have 14 points from 9 games. This isn’t a good record, I would say it’s below average, borderline poor. Probably the least you’d expect from those games. Chuck in Hudds and it’s plainly a poor record.

Paddy also raises a good point that it doesn’t matter who you gets points from. This is correct. We are 7th having a great season because we are the 7th best team at this stage of the season.

But to say we haven’t generally struggled against the poor sides because we are 7th is a strange stance.

Include Palace and Newcastle and it is fine though.

Where people put arbitrary cut offs in the table to form their arguments is the issue. And hey, each decision to do that in the table has its merits. My whole table breakdown shows we have picked up points from everywhere in the table.

I do agree though that if we could have picked up the STUPID points we lost against some of the poorest sides we would be making the Chelsea hairy starfish quiver and shake, but that is probably for next season and beyond. THAT is our passport to the top table. I am confident we will get there.

Who did you moan about Costa to, seeing as you didn't want to do it on here?

Cutting edge bantz from the big man.

I actually thought we played alright in patches. I thought Traore played quite well in the 1st half (Cav, on the other hand, had a shocker). I always had a feeling we’d struggle today. They desperately needed a win, we’ve generally been sluggish after the international breaks - and it would have been difficult for our lads to not have one eye on tuesday and also the cup semi final.

We’ll probably go and win on Tuesday now.

Just logged on to see a Cyber meltdown and his usual shite about teams lower than us.

Fuck that noise. Logging off.
