Brentford (Home - 2nd Jan) - Build up

If things stay as they are at Villa Park, a win tomorrow would see us go 12 points clear of Derby, and 14 clear of Bristol City in third

might only need as little as 28-29 points to go up from here.

Based on the average over the past 10 years, we require 8 wins for promotion from 21 games, that is 1.14 PPG. Equivalent to the form of QPR in 18th place.

I wonder how German Phil is getting on - might be a surprise inclusion

I keep forgetting about him. If he is anywhere near fitness I suppose we would consider him for the Swansea game

In a way it's good bonatini went off as he'll be fresh for this. I reckon Saiss might be given a rest and maybe Jota too. The back 3 will be as they were when we finished against BC.

Doc is my only concern really, he's played every league game and always covers lots of ground. He does seem to have beefed his engine up this season though

I wouldn't rest anyone. They've had 2 full days to recover and i think we have the fittest squad in the league and we recover quickly. Most of them will then have the best part of 2 weeks off until the Barnsley game.

Nowhere near from the last reports on him. Stepped up his training and started to get pain in the ankle again

Btw I can’t say I’ve ever seen Doherty look tired in the games I’ve seen despite all the running he gets through

Amazing what happens when you decide to be an acceptable weight for a professional footballer...

I wish Douglas could add that sort of marauding forward-running aspect to his game. He'd be an incredible LWB then.

Bennett in for Batth, and Cav in for Costa would be the changes I would make.

Bennett for Batth is a given, but I think Cav would have much more effect from the bench than Costa, as shown against Bristol. So I would start with Bonatini, Jota and Costa up front.

I've got two free tickets for this going spare in the Steve Bull lower. PM me if you're interested

Bump. Still available if anyone fancies either just one or both tickets, free.

Cav over Costa then Costa a full game in the cup, thats what I'd do. Gonna be tough tonight 4-0 Wolves. Tough for them I meant.
