Brentford 1 - 2 Wolves: Three Minutes to Resurrect a Season

One more issue Lambert 'I dont go anywhere not to win a game, I just dont do it' Except for Ipswich away Lambert ay..

Some firms now have us at 20/1 to go down. That feels better...

Player assessments:

Edwards: Had an early chance and a couple of wayward headers in the first half but aside from that he was a total passenger and this constant picking of him at 10 is ridiculous and needs to stop. Looked much better once he dropped back to make way for Cav coming into the number 10 role and played a pivotal role in intercepting the ball which led to our winner. That said, all he'll ever excel at is running at opposition players when they've got the ball and try to make a nuisance of himself. Most of the time this leads to nothing, and he isolates himself in the process - without having the engine any more to catch back up with play and try and be a nuisance again. That's why, if he must play, it has to be in a deeper role.

Meanwhile Britney says;
[h=2]David Edwards[/h]Has looked like he's needed a rest of late but after a below-par performance on Saturday Edwards rediscovered his form here. Did his usual off-the-ball work that is often taken for granted, closing Brentford down and pressing high up the pitch, but also added a real threat going forward. Should have scored early on when Weimann put him through, linked with Costa for a great Dicko chance and he got in some great positions in the box. It was his intuitive interception from a Brentford throw in the 89th minute that led to the winner. 8/10

Britney loves him - so does Mikey Burroughs, though Mikey has to be positive about everyone at the club. My guess is that Edwards gives him interviews and titbits, so he's effectively protecting his source

Just looking at Edwards stats for last nights game in the areas where a conventional number ten would play in that part of the pitch in front of the opponents penalty area Edwards made two passes all game. He didn't at any stage provide a link or a passing option through midfield. Which beggars the question, whats his role and how can the local journo view his contribution as an 8 out of 10. Baffled.

The positives outweigh the negatives over the past week. We have finally proved Edwards is better from deep, Batth is a tugboat, Doherty scores goals, Saville is worth a squad place, Dicko is almost there, Cav and Costa are a double act. The down side is that is it for Saiss unless he plays at the back, Price has fallen down the pecking order . Marshall is showing value. All in all a little valuable respite.

Our midfield is basically crap, but also maddingly inconsistent. Evans, Price, Saiss - one game good two games bad. At least Saville and Edwards are consistent.
All credit to Dave yesterday - his persistence set up the winner.

Are you saying you would sooner have Edwards protecting the back four rather than Saiss, bear in mind the limitations of passing within that back four plus Edwards. Hoof.

I think what is maddeningly frustrating is that Batth has been a tugboat for 3 years and Edwards is about as good at number 10 as Ikeme. Given they both play in the spine u can see why its weak when they both start. Add an off form centre forward and a dodgy keeper sometimes and its easy to see why we are noit challenging. So easy our last three managers have failed to spot it! Still I am happy today, the sun is shining, the birds are singing and wears unbeaten in 3.

I hope our highlights are going to be better with the new website and media from next season... You can hear our bloke in the background. Foghorn Leghorn LMFAO.

I think Edwards best position is as a DM next to Saiss / Price / et al

I think I read a stat that he's made the most tackles of any midfielder plus the amount of ground he covers should mean he's effective.

I'm going to keep calling him the white kante until it sticks!

More like the Welsh Fellaini. Effective nowhere

Weimann's name spelt wrong on his shirt, amateur hour in the kit room.

I dont think Brentford score that goal with Williamson in the side, it was just to easy to get in because of a complete lack of communication.

Agreed but willo can't do three games a week methinks

Willo was stood on the sidelines doing a hell of a lot of stretching before the start of the second half vs Rotherham. He's in his mid 30s now and has played what, three games in 15 months or something?

He's going to be swapped in and out right throughout our ultra-busy April I would think.
