Brentford 1 - 2 Wolves: Three Minutes to Resurrect a Season

If Willo and Batth are both unavailable, I'd be inclined to play Saiss at CB

We need him to be available for a multitude of reasons, not least because Stearman can't play on Saturday (not really a huge loss, but we'd be back to chucking Iorfa back in at CH if Batth is banned and Willo is injured, and he has not played there for months nor have he and Hause ever looked anything other than a calamitous pairing)

Yet Iorfa & Hause have been the first choice pairing for England U21s at CH - weird

Anyone else think blues aren't safe?

i know quite a few blues fans who don't think they're safe...
of course, i've been in no position to talk
massively relieved tonight

Not especially. They've played in a three occasionally together, more often than not one or both of them has played at full back or wing back. Not sure there's been any occasions when they've played together as the centre halves in a back four for England.

When they've played together in the League Cup they've been all over the place.

Win the next 3 and we can put our feet up....easy

Edwards played all his good football this season as one of 2 deeper midfielders so if he's playing that has to be where surely. Great that Cav had such a positive impact, quite how Dicko and Edwards missed their chances I don't know but I'm so happy with that result. Cav, Costa and Marshall behind Dicko or weimann on Saturday please

Fair play to Edwards in the second goal, much prefer him winning the balk then passing it onto more creative playera

Yep, he did well there.

Delicious ball in from Marshall for the equaliser. It was unacceptable that he turned up in such a poor physical state but there is a player there without a doubt.

Can blame Blackburn for that, but also Lambert for playing him before that issue had been sorted out

In the last two games he has shown that there is something of value there

Wasn't he very highly regarded a few years ago?

He's generally been seen as a decent player at this level over the years. Reputation suffers a bit when you're stuck at an absolute craphole as Venky's Blackburn are rather than when he played for promotion-chasing Leicester.

Never going to be much more than a good Championship player but that really isn't our concern right now. Our immediate problem is that we don't have anywhere near enough good Championship players.

I've always thought he was decent and one of the few that wanted him lol. Not where we want to be but a stepping stone to get there

Stats show 24 shots for us against 8 for Brentford (& I can see that most of ours were not on target & stats can hide a multitude of sins), but shows that we need to attack rather than just defend as we have shown (often) that we can't do that with the personnel we have.

The rest of this season is just about getting sufficient points to avoid a last day decisive game - decisions to make at that point & consider that we have enough to avoid getting to the game v Preston needing something from it

Still in the Griffin in Brentford so will do a review when I get home. We could have had 3 or 4 second half but there was always that nervousness that Brentford could go down the other end and make it 2-0 and game over. I think it's partly a confidence thing, but clearly a lack of quality in key areas. Anyway, will do a full review later.
