My wife is out so have the kids :(

That was the quietest sweet Caroline at the boxing I’ve ever heard. Weird atmosphere here.
 
Very professional performance from AJ. Ruiz couldn’t get near him!
 
That was a superb performance. I didn't think he could box like that, fluid and snappy.

I found it a bit boring tbh! But AJ did what he had to do, kept moving and kept away from that dangerous inside area where Ruiz hammered him last time.

Hope they dont host any more fights in Saudi, the atmosphere was awful.

That was the biggest disappointment. I really didn't expect him to throw a Buster Douglas. To be saying post title fight ' I'm not saying 3 months of partying didn't have any effect because it clearly did' is brutally self aware if nothing else. I watched the fight again this morning without commentary and it was boring as hell. It threatened to be a stinker, and it delivered. Joshua's record will show only show a W though which makes it mission complete. It wasn't without it's moments, and Joshua took some big shots from Ruiz, but a man who has prepared to face a specific opponent for six solid months having already fought him should always come out on top against a fighter who spent half of that time living la vida loca. Mike Tyson sustained it for a short while. Andy Ruiz is not Mike Tyson.

I'm not trying to take anything away from Anthony Joshua - he got the win, he is unified champion again and back in the top 3. He did what he had to do. But that wasn't the second coming of Lennox Lewis. He spent most of the night on the back foot employing the Herbie Hide defence. Riddick Bowe must be smarter than Ruiz as it only took him till round 3 to work out Hide wasn't going to stay still to be punched much and resorted to 'stand still and fight me f****t' insults. Joshua's clearly smarter than Hyde because he resisted them for longer when Ruiz started them with ten seconds to go.

I'm not sure what that win tells us about Anthony Joshua. He's now Frank Mk3? Essentially still Frank Mk2, but he's had the engine tuned, some bodywork refining done, mpg and efficiency increased, a new set of wheels and a systems management upgrade.

We now know he can get on his bike for 12 rounds against short fighters who walk forward all night. Which will be great for the talked about Saudi millions payday pantomime rematch. Not so great against tall fighters with a longer reach who walk forward all night with faster hands than you and not so good against taller fighters with a much longer reach who can box your face off all night.

He's back in the big time, everyone's happy but I think given the margin of the victory and the style of the defeat a third fight would be almost farcical. Had Ruiz done as promised, and gone out on his shield instead of coming in on his snack tray there might be a case, but after a fight that looked at times like a public exhibition Eddie Hearn is going to have to really sell that one.

If, as Eddie Hearn claims, Anthony Joshua is now a King, he is still yet to claim his Kingdom, but he did claim the award for media gaffe of the event, expressing his desire to decapitate his opponent in a nation where that was carried out 149 times last year. Know what I mean, Harry?
 
From what I saw, I think Fury would dominate AJ. That's a volte-face on my previous opinion. Fury may just be the best. And you can't leave Wilder out of the conversation. It would be great to find out but of course the sanctioning bodies are already dropping mandatory challengers into the equation to fuck up a unification bout.
