It’s the bit when Corbynistas actually think they are centre left and everyone else is right that cracks me up.

This is proper funny because you can't see this in yourself. The Overton window has moved so far right in this country that many people would consider New Labour to be centre left.* When a bloke comes along with genuine social democratic policies he's portrayed as a raving commie. I've said it before but a true centrist would see public and private sector of equal value and importance. No govt in my lifetime has held that view.

I will be the first to admit my understanding of British politics and where it all fits into an ' ideology ' is fairly limited.

I would see all means of production and service as a 'social enterprise' with gains reinvested in people (according to contribution) and not played out on the stock markets. Consumption balanced against resources. The fit and healthy protect the vulnerable. Not sure what that makes me ?

But generally my view is whether left or right it involves an authority and control that is far removed from any perceived form of democracy. Hard to form a fair unbiased democracy when society can buy us off easily. Whatever equality or social justice is mooted people will rely on division to enable them to be more and sometimes far more equal than others. Centralisation just reinforces this power equation and I am anti-authority whatever form it takes.

All a bit of a charade. It reminds me of what Bill Hicks said about the roller coaster ride.

And none of them put me in a gulag or a death camp because my beliefs were different. Or separated me from others because I may have looked different or not followed orders. Expertise and the common law are not the authority I allude to.

Thanks for telling me how to think, Paul. In the context of what I typed in that reply it is fair to assume what form of authority I was alluding too. "Whatever form it takes" was in reference to left and right.

Other thing makes me laugh is how when it comes to taking measures to halt the spread the Tories suddenly become the party of mental health. Lockdowns and working from home are bad for mental health but not poor housing, low pay, job insecurity, lack of affordable childcare...
