Boris at it again and the contest to replace the lying c***

Stanley Johnson has apologised after being spotted shopping in West London without a facemask. His excuse, I mean reason:

"I've been away abroad and wasn't aware of the latest rules"

I was going to make a sarky comment about his son being Prime Minister but Boris has also been a bit sketchy on the rules this week
rather ironic timing given bozza's assertions that the problem is people not following the rules...

Womp womp wommmmmpppp

"Masks must be worn at all times by all staff
With immediate effect fluid resistant face masks, as provided by the Trust, must be worn by all staff at all times, including when sitting at desks in non clinical areas. This is due to several outbreaks in the last couple of weeks, predominantly among non clinical staff. Exemptions are staff who work in offices on their own with no other contact and those who are exempt for health reasons – please discuss this with your line manager and complete a risk assessment."

Meant to put it on the rona thread. Oh well. Too late as always, so it's relevant to Bozza.

So the Eat out to help out didn't work £522 million worth of claims but the restaurant industry never benefitted ?

Without googling the report he mentions I would presume that Pubs/Restuarants running at a reduced capacity but having to be fully staffed due to how service has to be done, I would say a lot of places would struggle to break even maybe make a small loss. The obvious benefit is people were getting paid and still in work but how long will they be in work if the places have to go another 3-6 months at 50 - 60% capacity especially when the Furlough scheme ends/is reduced to 20% next month

Didn't it just shift Friday and Saturday trade to Mon-Wed? That's what my local told me

It would yep, so that as well. So easy to see how places would simply not benefit in terms of acually making money

Alex - 7 Years ago - “Labour put in a load of wind farms that failed to pull the skin off a rice pudding,” (in an interview making the case for shale gas)

Alex Today - "I remember how some people used to sneer at wind power, twenty years ago, and say that it wouldn’t pull the skin off a rice pudding. They forgot the history of this country. It was offshore wind that puffed the sails of Drake and Raleigh and Nelson, and propelled this country to commercial greatness." "As Saudi Arabia is to oil, the UK is to wind – a place of almost limitless resource, but in the case of wind without the carbon emissions and without the damage to the environment."

He's talking about statues and songs again.

So basically we should have just kept the £522 mil in the bank ?

"There are 51 "points", what percentage aren't true/accurate?" I don't know, do you ?, when you have recognised learned people telling you a pandemic figures was doubling every day when it patently wasn't at the time who do you believe ?

This ?

Patrick Vallance said the epidemic was doubling “roughly every seven days” and said government modelling showed that could mean about 50,000 cases per day by mid-October. That, in turn, would lead to 200 deaths per day by mid-November.

Vallance said there had been an increase in positive cases across all age groups, which was not down to increased testing.

Wasn't he stating that this would happen without any measures in place to restrict the growth in cases? If the cases double this week and next he would be correct so the modelling is currently about right?

He's such a twat.

Could just announce this like a normal person (even if most of it is reheated stuff) but no, make a "joke" sort of at your own expense that isn't even really a joke (and it wasn't 20 years ago, so a fucking lie, again) and go waffling on about Francis bloody Drake.

None of what he said had any relevance to the current problems we have and the fast approaching, even greater problems we are highly likely to face.

The arts and culture industry has grown £390 million in a year and now contributes £10.8 billion a year to the UK economy.

The sector contributes £2.8 billion a year to the Treasury via taxation, and generates a further £23 billion a year and 363,700 jobs.

Productivity in the arts and culture industry between 2009 and 2016 was greater than that of the economy as a whole, with gross value added per worker at £62,000 for arts and culture, compared to £46,800 for the wider UK economy.

Or as media darling Rishi put it today, forget all that and get a proper job. The cunt.

Of course he is, he's telling you exactly what you want to hear !

With a healthy dose of fact. The lack of announcement of the £1.57bn Cultural Recovery Fund has sent a lot of venues to the brink - the RSC are keeping two closed until 2022 and placed 150 staff on redundancy notice. There have been around 5,000 job losses in total since COVID-19 began and from a lot of big players: the Hippodrome, the Birmingham REP, Theatre Royal Plymouth etc.

These aren't your small scale town venues, they're venues that generate thousands upon millions in turnover a year.

But it's OK, apparently we don't have proper jobs and should just go do an apprenticeship. Would definitely pay my mortgage, that :)
