Boris at it again and the contest to replace the lying c***

I have stayed fairly static, the rest of the country has gone right. I blame Tony Blair.
Aye. Maggies greatest success. The Conservatives of the 50s, 60s and 70s were left of Blair but she turned the party hard towards Friedman and they've gone further right ever since. Blair was Thatch without the homophobia.

We're at the point now where some mild social democratic reforms are seen as akin to communism.

Still room to go further right though. The next phase will be turning us into a tax haven and the introduction of freeports and charter cities. Brexit was first stage.

When younger I was very left wing. As I got older I drifted to more moderate left. The last few years of shit has seen me move more left again. I firmly believe that we need a serious change in the economic system, capitalism as it is will first condemn vast numbers of people to poverty and death while the wealthy continue to hoard (for what!?) and then capitalism will destroy what is left of the planet. It can't help itself and the wealthy wont/don't care.

I grew up in a staunchly blue area. I went into a staunchly blue career. Neither of those apply now. And if there was still a Conservative wing like the Ken Clarke's of this world I would probably still be on board. The lurch to the right of the Conservative party since 2010 is utterly abhorrent. They are impossible for me to even countenance support for now and I hope they never get in power again after they get booted (I hope) in the next election.

Anyone watch it. I assume TT was the most impressive, RS the most comfortable, PM the most forceful, KB the maddest and LT the most lost?

In order from bad to worse…
TT, KB, R/S, LT, PM.
A free hit for the first two as they aren’t getting near to winning. When she’s not threatening to sack teaching assistants and stopping after schools clubs, ie not going into any details, Badenoch almost sounded believable.

Suspect Tom Tug will get some lee-way because he's not been a high profile twat like the rest of them. Give him time. Oh and the cheeky demeanour will carry favour.

As yet none of them has highlighted the exact cause of anything or offered a genuine solution that contains no bribes.

Funnily enough the biggest disappointment for me was TT. Came across very smarmy, revelling in his unique position, sticking the knife in to applause from the audience, but was desperately lacking when asked for solutions. I think it was Kemi that said he was like the kid at the back of the class pointing ‘I told you so’. Felt he was content to hide behind that position and avoid scrutiny, which showed the lack of the balls his audience thought he was showing when knifing the others. His appeal could wane very, very quickly indeed.

PM started to go the other route and explain her plans which seemed to fall apart quite quickly. Not a good evening for her. Kemi was…. ok…. not as smooth an orator as the others but that wasn’t necessarily a bad thing when compared to the slippery slick performances of Rishi and Liz.

Rishi and Liz to be fair (I know, I know) did at least make their intentions very clear and were prepared to be judged on it. No doubt an outlier, but I thought the Maggie tribute act that is Liz Truss did the best job of all. It might’ve all been bullshit, but at least it was clear bullshit.

My order might seem unusual but it is what it is, (Sniffer is right, there is only a bad to worse) so:

LT, RS, KB, TT, PM.

Just to be clear that’s no endorsement of anyone. The lasting feeling was of one major disappointment in PM and TT and the shitshow that leaves us with.

The biggest winner by far was Keir Starmer.

I thought Truss was abysmal. Terrible policies easily pulled apart. Sunak and Tugenhadt easily debunked her claims.

She stuttered, looked flustered and her delivery was shocking. She sounds as though she doesn't believe what she says, so how are we to?

Sunak was slick, believable but lacked credibility because most of the policies were his in government. No change candidate.

Badinoch came across as the nasty individual she is. A truly warped right winger who would see children suffer so she could be PM. Vile.

Mordant delivered her lines well but didn't say anything of substance. At all. Very average.

Tugenhadt sniped at the others but came across as a man who is very much of the centre right Ken Clarke wing of the party. He was light on policy for that reason but he's a good orator and showed a sense of humour and humanity. The current lot aren't voting for him, not a rabid racist/ children eater.

Truss has suddenly hit on the idea that taxing people who are already fucked by price rises is not workable and Rishi has suddenly developed a profound dislike of the money tree used to hand out to the likes of MacDonalds, Hancocks mate, Dido and temporary hospitals that they couldn't staff. Truss has become Tony Blair or rather a cross between Blair and Dobbin the superhorse off Rentaghost.

All a bit short termist and jingoistic rather than a brain who can outline a 2 year plan let alone 5.
