Bellend commentators

Ally doesn't think there was a touch, at least ten different angles showed there wasn't (including the very second one). Which begs the question why the fuck were VAR taking so long again?

Thankfully think that's us done with Ian Darke until next season. Absolutely appalling.

Isn’t that it for us with Amazon now? The coverage is great the people not so.

Think they have the same deal next season and then finished

My fave Darke comment last night was Atletico hoping Doc would be another Trippier for them.

Aw, I love Darke. Babbles a lot but he's harmless.

Still living off his call of Landon Donovan's winner against Algeria, perhaps, at least in American hearts.

Pretty sure I could knock them up a PhotoShop of Doc in a bookies. There you go, two peas in a pod.

He's bloody awful. At least we no longer have "Willy Boalie" in our team when he's on.

The last part is just odd, he just happened to be on comms for the US feed at the time, he didn't say anything special IIRC. Would be like Man Utd fans adoring Clive Tyldesley because he was on duty for That Wonderful Night In Barcelona.

That's what happens when the popularity of the entire sport in your country is constantly teetering on the knife's edge.

That goal, and subsequently Darke's call on it, kept the sport alive here in a very real way, particularly after how woeful the US had been in 2006. Just one of those "lightning in a bottle" moments, if you like.

I think we may also just have a different relationship with commentators here than exists over there. Seems a lot less adversarial. That's not a judgment of us being right and y'all being wrong, merely an observation.

Rio Ferdinand this morning on TNT saying United won't scrape top 4, they'll bounce into the top 4 and may get 3rd. Has he actually seen them play?
