A tale of two Johnny's!

Our Johnny always plays to the right!

Pmsl!

Its the weekend! Woo hoo!

I always thought Dennis Irwin was a LB, personally never saw him play anywhere else [emoji136]

Plenty of players play on their ‘wrong’ side - might disadvantage them in some way, but they get advantages in other ways.

Man U went through a number of years of playing one of Irwin/G Neville; P Neville/Irwin; P Neville/G Neville as their full backs depending on which Ferguson felt like at the time - basically the Nevilles always played on "their" side, whilst Irwin swapped around.

For us as was said, Irwin played the vast majority of the time at right back. Wearing 8. <shudder>

We signed him when Celta were playing him at LB. He was signed for Atletico to replace Filipe Luis at LB. We bought him to play LWB.

He started out as a RB but he's now a left sided player. Similarly I wouldn't call Stephen Ward a striker any more.

He's right footed and can play either side. He's played more of his career on the left now so I class him as a LB/LWB, even though his natural position was RB.

That’s a fucking awful article. I usually like to give people a chance, but that’s terribly written.

Who actually writes shit like this:

By gum. that's a cracking article. Adama Traore at centre forward. Plenty of us have said we need a big man up top and clearly Adama is the man! Next week, Joe identifies Ruben Vinagre as our snotter in midfield...

Has anyone ever thought of Otto as anything other than solid. Straight away it was obvious he was an upgrade on Douglas

It was more that I was trying to have a little giggle with Alan, no dig intended. I just thought he'd like to see what our new reporter thought although his knowledge could be written down on the back of a stamp!

Jonnys movement and intelligence is first class. Plus defensively he is good in the tackle with either foot and solid positionally. His weakness is attacking positions. But this is unsurprising for a career fullback on his weak side.

Unfortunately when he gets in attacking positions he often gets forced down the line and he can’t really cross with his left foot (the other wingbacks can’t really do it with their strong foot tbf). He also gets in situation where he can cut inside but he can’t whip it in so it’s always high and floaty which is easy for the keeper to pluck. Plus he’s had a few opportunities to take shots which he either refuses or puts in the stands.

Fortunately with Jota in the team though they combine really well and he takes players away and Jota takes the majority of the attacking burden.

It's shocking stuff really, I could do a better job and as Booz says I live 3000 miles away!

Almost certain that Nuno will start 3-5-2 and I'd expect to see Adama on the bench. Really hope that Grealish is out as most people looking at the game objectively would see Grealish/McGinn as a better midfield pairing than Neves/Moutinho at the moment

I totally disagree with that.
Grealish / McGinn
better than
Neves / Moutinho

May be in some paralell universe but never in this on.
Our 1 - 11 is way ahead of Villa.

Not saying we are going to win as one off games can be anything but come the end of the season i fully expect Villa to be in the bottom 6/7, and us to be in the top 8/9

The Villa goalkeeper has more saves to his name, more punches, more catches and more clearances over the campaign so far

Just seen that Roberto made 3 saves for West Ham today.

Probably better than Ederson, he only made 1 for City last week.

Looking forward to this my 1st game simce Sheff Utd when Neves scored that worldie...

Hoping for a win but derbies are always tough to call.
I see Smith has said they dominated the cup game, congratulations on lifting the we beat Wolves U23 cup

You're at the match tomorrow? Coming to the Royal London?

Thinking about it, meeting me best Pal Taffy, then heading to the rememberance service at the cenotaph couple in the Wheatsheaf, so will try and head to the Royal London.
Staying in the Redwing meeting my kids later but may be in the bar for a pint at some point

An Englishman a Scotsman and a Welshman walk into the Royal London...
