Aston Villa (a) 30.11.25 Build up and match thread.

I mean we’re shit and all that, with owners who obviously want out, definitely on a managed decline but we’ve got to win one eventually? Even if it’s a fluke goal and a massive rearguard defence for 60 minutes. It would be nice if that was today.
I also think that at some point we’re going to be on the receiving end of a massive pasting, that could also be today.
It’s a shame and it’s awful to watch but I’ve been following wolves for over 50 years and am kind of numb and a bit divorced from it now, however the club will still exist long after I’ve gone and the downs will surely be followed eventually by ups. UTW.

I think we could easily not win all year. We’re miles behind even the most mediocre opposition, many of whom have beaten us comfortably without even having to try. Compounded by now having a manager who is pretty sure he’s safe even if we spend all season losing. And he's probably right. We’ll get drubbed today, we’ve gone off a cliff.

a massive rearguard defence for 60 minutes.

I've spotted the first issue with your scenario.

The second being the defence could do reasonably well but then some shitbeak like Hwang will come on and hand wrap the opposition a goal.

The third thing is I don't think Edwards is altogether that more better or worse than GON, if we got our noses in front I think he'd try to shut up shop and hold on and then we just go back to Newcastle and Villa last season where we were in front in both with less than 15 to play and still lost both.

You are right though, by law of averages we should eventually meet a team not at the races or already on the beach later in the season and we'll win. The fact that, that's what we're pinning our hopes on is a damning indictment of everything and everybody at the club.

My issue is that although we’ll doubtless meet those teams, I still can’t logically think of a reason that our effort, motivation or ability will be better in any conceivable scenario.

The derby element is utterly immaterial for everyone on the playing staff today. Presume that’s a whoosh moment for me and I’ve missed the joke!

Oh yeah I share the same thoughts, watching Final Score yesterday I did think to myself theres no way our group shows the spirit of Leeds (even in a losing effort) or Sunderland yesterday and they're newly promoted who haven't received nearly a billion pounds in Premier League money in the last 8 years.

I'm resigned to relegation with one of the lowest points totals ever (Derbys record isnt off the table either) but equally Southampton stumbled over the 11 point line with five games to spare in the end last season and they were probably on a par with us now.

I don't see the kind of spirit in our squad that's a necessity to get anything in a derby.

As soon as something goes against us heads will drop and we'll roll over.
We do seem to lack a backbone.

Yeh at least there's effort there. If we can get 30-40 more grammatically disappointing banners then maybe someone will pay attention.

I'm not mad, at least they're trying something. From tiny acorns mighty oaks grow.....or something
Exactly.

Fans holding banners aren’t the problem. Fans acting sneeringly and like they're above them is.

They’ve actually gone to the trouble of showing up, organising, and trying to say something… and the big response on here is to sneer at their punctuation.

You don’t have to love the banner, but mocking fans for caring enough to make one says a lot more about us on here than it does about them.

If fans can’t show how they feel at a football match, when exactly are they supposed to do it?!

I don't like the Taiwan thing at all.

If we appointed Avram Grant then I'd be furious as he's a shit manager. I wouldn't wave a Palestine flag in his face because he happens to be from Israel.

Lopez out of the squad too (he's not injured, is he?)

Tolu dropped or just still not fit to play a full game?

At least Edwards has potentially seen already that Munetsi and Hwang are not starters.
