Now managed to listen to most the others.
Jeff is just a bit of a nob isn’t he, even if some of what he says is accurate.
Yes Wolves need more fans, as more fans = more cash. But they aren’t real fans and they will disappear as soon as they arrive. As he says, they are only fans for the emotional attachment of an individual. When their foreign exports retire/leave/play shit then they are gone though? Surely he doesn’t think they are actually going to stick around. The biggest driver of fan base will always be on field success.
He talks of raising the financial ceiling. Again this is true. But again the biggest way of increasing this is on field success. £2.2m per place, better teams get shown on TV more, cup runs, European qualification, more exposure for sponsors etc. Yes that is really hard to do and realistically we will never bridge the gap to the top 6, it’s too big. We may have to go about it differently but I still don’t see how esports or whatever leads to more money in the account of Wolves. FSG maybe but not Wolves?
Even still we don’t seem to be spending the limit of our ceiling at the minute. And he talks about being wiser with spending to stay within that limit, then surely the activity in the last few transfer windows has not been good enough. Some low priced bargains (who we assume we will turn a profit on) but not good enough from the big priced items.
He says you can’t just spend spend spend, he’s right you can’t. Villa are going to give it a go, Newcastle too. But they probably will hit the ceiling with FFP if they don’t succeed early. Basically he’s admitting it’s an impossible task and they aren’t going to financially dope to try and bridge the gap.
As for Vinny…
I don’t have too many issues. The kit price is just standard. Every year since I can remember you can pick up a bargain later on in the season so you know what’s going to happen. So wait until Boxing Day if you aren’t happy with full price. Same as yearly kits, If you don’t want to buy them - don’t
The away ticket stuff is good. Even if half the problem was created by themselves by uneccesairily introducing the silver AST, which they are now trying to reduce the numbers of.
The main story is prices though. Getting rid of fees is good but they’ve just increased the price anyway and factored that it so it’s not really a saving/discount.
He mentions that the Leicester gate money is readily accessible. Yes it is, from 19/20! Can’t exactly use that as a comparison now when you’ve put prices up between 15-25% since that season and their revenue was practically the same as ours too. They also have their ticket prices up on show again for next season, and they are far cheaper? Guess we have to wait for next seasons edition to say he lied again before he again tries to justify it some other way.
