Arsenal 2-1 Wolves: Verdict Thread

Smiling and taking selfies with opposition fans straight after that result, seems a weird vibe.

From what I remember seeing it live, they were waving the mexican flag and cheering for Raul and he went over and gave them his shirt and took a pic. They're in the Arsenal area but I don't remember them being decked in visible Arsenal gear (hard to tell from the screenshot).

Regardless, he should probably be dragged through the streets for such transgressions, daring to speak to his countrymen after kicking a ball around for 90 minutes.

Or... And hear me out here... Who gives a fuck

We’re not great fun to watch right now which is a shame as we’re having a great season. I hate our shithousing and watching us just defend for 80 minutes and not even try and attack when we have the chance isn’t enjoyable.
Was just coming on to post this, was really doing my head in as well.

Last ten minutes if we're winning, fine. But it started from about 15 minutes. Lage keeps going on about having a big team mentality, I've never seen a big team do this, big teams keep the game moving quickly and try and score a second/third.

It's a small team mentality thing to do and I think it's holding us back. Yeah it disrupts the rythm of the game for opponent but it also has the same effect on us.

Tough one to lose but it seems to me we're just a bit lacking individually, think we're the best team from a togetherness point, but Arsenal and Utd just have more good players. 4th was a nice dream (and still not out of the question) but realistically we're in there fighting for 6th with West Ham and Spurs....still a lot to be happy about this season.
Thought this in the first game - just a smidgeon more quality in the skill set of the individuals - was evident to me particularly when they pressed us that we regularly made mistakes and gave the ball away.

On that note, Hwang and Podence - in our defensive third please stop the flicks and tricks.

We looked punch drunk in that last 10 mins or so, a big worry against a rested West Ham

Man Utd did it to us at 0-0 at Molineux, I'd say they are a big team

I think Moutinho in particular will struggle to be at his best. Cundle did a good job at Spurs and we shouldn’t be afraid to play him.

So did Arsenal from about 30 minutes
At the moment there are only two big teams, City and Liverpool. Arsenal proved at Molineux they’re a million miles from being a big team, their attitude was closer to Brentford than either of those two.

Sickener of a goal, all of RAN, Saiss, Coady and Sa not covering themselves in glory.

Raul has to bury his chance at 1-0, from there it's as good as game over. Hwang and Neto unfortunate with their second half opportunities. Ultimately we didn't keep the ball well enough, if we're keen on game management when we're in front then that always has been and always will be the most efficient way of doing it.

Some dire decisions but the worst was Atkinson blowing for White's dive when we were clean through. Don't guess you fool, you don't have to these days. And for all our shithousing - which I'm really not a fan of, we're not even good at it and after Leeds away that's now the second time a team has scored in time that wouldn't have existed if we'd not dicked about - that was just blatant cheating. Tango headed twat.

On to Sunday.

I don’t think Raul was as bad as made out, the ball doesn’t stick to him as well as it used to but he was up against strong defenders. I don’t think we played as badly as some suggest. Arsenal definitely stepped up in the second half but they are a top 6 side in the Premier League which suggests they probably have some good players and they were at home.

Given what the team has achieved this season I think they are entitled to be confident that they can manage a game out to get a result. They almost always do.

Arsenal’s first goal was smartly taken, maybe we could have defended it better earlier…but most goals “could“ have been defended better. Their second, it happens.

Unfortunately, these two defeats against Arsenal could turn out to be quite important. i think we really need a result against Wet Spam…

Would have been a good day to have Traore. He would have at worst won some free kicks, held on to it at least once and carried it up the pitch.

Managed to miss that one in real time - should have gone.

If he plays instead of Hwang we don't score at all and lose 1-0.

It was a system problem last night and that's on Bruno.

We needed a midfielder on instead of Hwang or Pod at the start of the second half if the aim was to only defend.

If we'd have pressed at the start of the second half like we did in the first 10 minutes of the first I think we score again and the game is done.

We are a good side and we need to trust in our own ability more.

I don't think 3-4-3 suits Hwang at all. He can't play out wide and is far better off the shoulder of the last man in the middle. He was too far away from Raul.

On the plus side Pod seems to like Hwang making those runs and his ball through was genius. Good save from Ramsdale.

I'd rather us go 3-4-1-2 with Pod in behind Hwang and Raul against Wham.

saw that in real time. to be fair more on the linesman that one. but definitely should have been picked up by the officials.

@Johnny75 said earlier in the thread that was the worst officiating he has seen. The standard has been really poor this season, as some recent post match discussions have been dominated by how bad the officiating has been. They were poor in the leicester game, and oliver had a mare at molineux a few weeks ago too.

Yep, pod is proving that he can find lovely space between the lines, and has got vision and weight of pass.

I'd like to see Neto and Pod off Raul for the rest of the season, give them both instruction to float from half spaces to central areas, stay close to Raul and just play some football
