I don't want Raul anywhere near the pitch for this game even if he's been signed off.

A cold, wet game with nothing to play for against our local rivals who are trying desperately trying to avoid relegation - it's just too risky for me

Agreed.

Agreed Andy, if those bastards are going down, they will want to leave their mark on us.

Can't agree with this at all, or the idea that if he is on the bench and used that we would be taking any risks with him.

If he IS fit and able to help us beat the Albion, then yes get him involved, why wouldn't we?

Because our season is done and there's no need to risk him.
But what is the risk? Why are people assuming there is a risk? Do people genuinely think the Wolves medical staff, Nuno or even Raul himself would enter the pitch if there was ANY risk to his health and well being? That's just a bizarre conclusion to draw, and disrespectful to all involved.

I find it odd that people moan about a lack of effort and application against Burnley (obviously rightly so), but then don't want us to do everything we can to give us the best opportunity to win the following game - especially against Albion?

I'm kinda with EP on this, he will only feature if the medics are 100% sure its safe for him.

Of course there a risk it would be silly to think there isn't. Head injuries come with all sorts of risks, mental and physical. Some even lead to retirement and there is always a risk to health and well being.

It is unnecessary as we don't need to take that chance right now.

Having seen the state of medical treatment of head injuries in football then bizarre is an odd word to use and I can only think you don't watch any other sports to see how backwards football is in comparison.

Im sure the medics were satisfied that Jonny was okay. Or Neto after returning with a "knock" on internationals.

Nobody is accusing the medical department of incompetence here but risk is always there, so in a nothing game with no supporters present why bother?

Its not like Raul returning would be the silver bullet for all our problems. Dendoncker would continue his Waitrose Dave Edwards impression, Podence would still look like the bigger boys have had his pocket money etc etc

Im also still not over McCarthy playing Kightly in a fucking friendly against Shrewsbury in 2009 which resulted in him missing the run in.

Right, so you think Nuno, and the Wolves medical staff are actively putting Raul's health and welfare at risk by potentially playing him tomorrow? That's quite the claim!

To be honest that's exactly what you appear to be doing.

Hardly. Incompetence would be Saunders comments about Sako.

My point is that the current medical team took every precaution with Jonny (managed minutes working up to 90 etc) and the same injury reoccurred. They would have assessed Neto's injury and despite their confidence it was only a 'knock' it developed into a serious injury.

Thats the risk you're eagerly trying to dismiss.

Why increase that risk for Raul in a nothing game, in a nothing season with no supporters present? We aren't going to change style and we aren't going to get any higher in the league than where we are.

He could come back and smash a hatrick in. Wonderful. But, for me, right now the potential benefits are outweighed by the potential costs.

Raul will not play on the sole word of the Wolves Medical team, he would have had a MRI scan, and spoken to his Neuro Surgeon, the bone will have healed, so I doubt there is any risk, players come back from injury all the time, it was a Fractured Skull, he will have permission to wear the protective guard, that will not be for anything other than Confidence.

He has been in the practice games and has had contact in these games. If he has been given the OK he will have headed the ball.

Lets get him on for the last 30 minutes and see him score to stuff it right up them.

I don't want some clogger trying to make a name for themselves in a local derby by "testing" Raul's physical condition.

If he's on the bench and unused then that's fine, but I doubt Raul would agree to sit on the bench if he's not going to come on at some point.

The first bit just isn’t going to happen. This isn’t Sunday league.

The second bit - why not? He can either sit in the stand or sit on the bench.

If it’s deemed he’s safe to play and waiting another 2 months (for next pre season) will make no difference, then he may as well crack on. If waiting reduces the risk, then you may as well wait.

Anyone else staggered that the bookies have us slight favourites? Given our recent performances and injures I have had to have an insurance bet.

I would just like to see Jimenez on the bench thats all. We have injuries galore so we need to make up the numbers. He shouldnt play though, but his presence could give everyone a lift.
