A jolly good read?

The Somme by Lyn Macdonald. If you are interested in the first world war , then this is essential reading. The costliest and most pointless of battles is superbly described by Macdonald.

I am currently reading "Stalin's Ghost" by Martin Cruz Smith. A great little read, it started slowly, but soon got going.

I've read most of his books. But not that one.

Send us a summary Mrs T, when you've done...
I've found a slight diminishing of excitement as the books have gone. Arcady getting into trouble and on the edge of losing his job etc... Kind of low on action...

Off on holiday in a few weeks and normally get through about 7-8 books in a fortnight.

Looking to take a couple of sports autobiographies this year to break up the fiction overload, any you guys can recommend?

I've heard good things about Paul McGrath's, Andre Agassi's and Lance Armstrong's.

Not sporting, but Keith Richards, Nelson Mandela and Alan Partridge have all written very enjoyable autobiographies.

As mentioned above, I am the secret footballer is coming out.
I don't tend to read many sports related books. No idea why though...

I have moved over to reading the original. One flew over the cookoo's nest and I like it alot

I'm sure it'll be an interesting and inspirational read though unlikely to consist solely of the truth, the whole truth and nothing but the truth.

Such as?
I honestly have no idea - to be fair, I've not really speculated at all about who it could be...

Awww man, that's a toughie...I don't remember off-hand! There was stuff about injury timing, being offered a new contract recently, outside of football interest, kids...oh, and it's not a black player!

There's a load of guff on google about it.
