    The R.I.P. Thread

They generally only played a handful of times for England - Worthington = 8, Bowles = 5, Currie = 17 plus you could add Rodney Marsh = 9 and Alan Hudson = 2 - hardly regulars. England has the best teams in Europe in the 70s and the early 80s - but it never translated into a national team that...

Things that make you SAD thread.

Thanks mate . . . it's a bit better now, with the slow passing of time. My eldest daughter got married (again) a couple of weeks ago, which does tend to put your faith, again, in human nature. Wedding was delayed for quite a while due to COVID restrictions but they finally managed to hold it...

Things that make you SAD thread.

It’s been over 4 months since I’ve been on this site and also close to 4 months since I have had any interest following Wolves given recent events . . . Late last year my best friend passed away from a very aggressive form of bowel cancer - he wasn’t even 60. What compounded the situation is...

    Trump

The basis of Trump’s claim is that mathematics and statistics show a number of anomalous results happening in this election which, while not evidence of fraud, are nonetheless red flags of possible electoral fraud, which gives weight to the claims of thousands of witnesses that have produced...

    Trump

Fair enough, but I think the Dominion / Smartmatic angle is one to be very wary of - given comments re its links to Venezuela, Cuba and other countries Back in 2018 Trump set up a situation via Executive Orders which has given him unparalleled legal tools to deal with any foreign interference...

    Trump

I disagree DWF, this is how I see their strategy - excuse me for the longish analysis below (in which I try to take out the emotion) but this is not very straight-forward (I've written a couple of longer pieces in some discussions about this with others also looking at how this is being played...

Boris at it again and the contest to replace the lying c***

Is this just for new vehicle sales (including trucks/prime movers) or will this include all 2nd hand vehicles as well ?

Boris at it again and the contest to replace the lying c***

Near midnight here in Oz, but I've just read an article that Boris has announced: "Britain will ban the sale of petrol and diesel vehicles by 2030 as part of a “green industrial revolution” that will “transform living in the UK’’ and make it the first G7 country to decarbonise road transport."...

    Best English Goalkeepers

    1. Gordon Banks - as safe as the bank of England . . . and of course that save against Pele. 2. Ray Clemence - calm with great positional sense. 3. Peter Shilton - great shot stopper. 4. Joe Corrigan - commanding presence. 5. David Seaman - best keeper since the early 90s. Others to note -...

    The R.I.P. Thread

Probably needs a new thread re English goalkeepers. For generations we had the best group of keepers of any country, but in the last 25 years it‘s all turned to sh!t.

    The R.I.P. Thread

So sad to hear of the passing of Ray Clemence - only 72. Saw him play for Liverpool in the 70s , a very fine keeper.

    The Film Thread

Yes, Doctor Sleep was a very good sequel with sly and subtle references to Kubrick’s horror masterpiece. Christ, it’s actually over a year ago since I saw it on its theatrical release (so much has happened in the last the year). For me, The Shining is in my top 10 favourite films plus I rate...

    Leicester 1-0 Wolves: Verdict Thread

Watched the game late this morning (Oz time) and a bore draw was probably the fairest result. Dubious penalty aside Leicester didn't threaten all that much, but neither did we - can't recall one clear cut chance from Wolves although it was a magnificent save from Schmeichel to deny Neves. I...

    Live Match Discussion: 2020/21

Yup - 4-1 Palace now. Very entertaining game and Palace have shown Leeds up again as to how defensively frail they are.

    Live Match Discussion: 2020/21

Another incredible moment - own goal by Costa to put Palace 3-1 up - awful keeping by Meslier.

    Live Match Discussion: 2020/21

Just watching the mini match (25min highlights) between Southampton and Newcastle and you have to take your hat off to the Saints. Dominated the game and should have won by more, and now top (albeit probably only for a day). Makes it even more frustrating for us for the 2 points we dropped...

    Trump

I see it 80/20 in favour of Trump . . . he has quite strong leads in the states undecided and Biden will need the majority of the postal votes to go his way. Apart from Pennsylvania, analysis of those postal votes outstanding would suggest they are not heavily in favour of the Dems - around 50/50.

    Coronavirus

3 consecutive zero days here in Melbourne/Victoria. New infections now running at 1.9 per day (average last 14 days) ie. 0.3 per million or 0.03 per 100,000. Heavy restrictions still in place (the attack on civil liberties has been criminal) but there is hope for some easing in the next week...

    The R.I.P. Thread

WOW . . . I missed that. Quite young at 72 . . . part of the great Welsh rugby team of the 70s - my favourite rugby team.

    Dull as ditchwater FC

I’d echo the view that this has been an outstanding thread with plenty of food for thought, without the hyperbole and emotion that we see on some other threads. I hope Nuno actually reads this - we have some excellent football analysts !
