[FA Cup 3rd Rnd] Brentford 1-1 Wolves: Verdict Thread

Pretty excellent 4D chess to sell Nunes for £53m and also get Doyle offered for £4.5m. Sign him up ASAP. Good game by the lad last night, and seems genuinely two-footed.

O'Neil In, Out and Shaking it all about

I think this sums it up nicely. I’m sure all football clubs are the same but sometimes a manager just gels and it can be special - Mick McCarthy, Kenny Jackett and Nuno have been that in my time supporting Wolves. GON may be that too, who knows. Whether he was brought in initially as a stop gap...

The January 2024 "Will we actually sign a striker or just Che Adams/Kieffer Moore" Transfer Thread

If he was an old-but-guaranteed-goals in a Kevin Phillips mould I’d have him as a bench option, but he’s not even really that anymore.

The January 2024 "Will we actually sign a striker or just Che Adams/Kieffer Moore" Transfer Thread

I would take Sasa over Ings to be honest - younger, better injury record (not exactly difficult) and he has done more this season than Ings has. The only thing that may work against us with Sasa is he wants to play week in week out which we can’t offer in this system. If Ings is happy to bench...

To be fair I can’t remember a point over the past 2 years where he has been fit for a sustained period of time.

And he’s got them into the fourth round! That would be a lovely draw assuming we beat Brentford, anyway.

I might keep a record of how many West Ham cast offs we get linked to in O’Neil’s time as coach. That Ings, Antonio and Cresswell now. They’re not all Craig Dawson, Hobbsy 👀

If we want a striker of that profile we may as well keep Sasa (minus the never fit bit)

No to Ings from me as well. I don’t think he fits the system of that front three at all - not mobile enough.

He could probably play backup to Cunha’s role pretty well. Although he’s wide of the front three he drifts and seems to often pop up in the middle/behind the striker.

His stats are pretty impressive for Reims when you consider the age he was there too. Suppose we have nothing to lose with a loan option - I’m fairly comfortable now that Hobbs knows how he wants to recruit and O’Neil seems to be able to get a good return from forward players in relation to...

I’m very wary of wonderkid strikers now 😉.

I don’t know much about Ekitike but the Twitter masses seem very excited..

The January 2024 "Will we actually sign a striker or just Che Adams/Kieffer Moore" Transfer Thread

He wouldn’t play in the middle but he’d be fine in the front three as an option we could rotate game by game. Although Hwang/Cunha/Sarabia have been superb we’ve lost a lot of directness and pace with Neto injured. My only downside to Carvalho is obviously we’d then have to replace him in the...

Yes, I wouldn’t have him if Liverpool want guaranteed starts.

Depends on the definition - he would stand a good chance of coming off our bench regularly.

Nor me, wasn’t it Spurs he was heavily linked to in the summer? If we were going to cash in on Max for FFP we’d have done so five months ago as it all would have been pure profit. Instead we gave him a new deal and made him captain - definitely not happening.

    Stats and Analysis Thread

I think we’ve benefitted from scouting two Neves replacements (Gomes and Lemina) really well last January. Sarabia and Dawson were very astute signings too. You can afford to sell your better players if you replace them well, and a lot of those we sold in the summer were dead wood/rats (Nunes)...

    Brentford (A, FAC) 5/1: Build-Up & Match Thread

Agree with this. Would bring in Lemina and Neto as YW said but that’s it. No excuse not to have a tilt at a cup run.
