The Road to World Cup 2026 and UEFA Nations League

Would you believe that we were utterly toothless with Sargent up front?

Poch has his work cut out for him. We were awful.

That’s an abysmal result, however due to FIFA allowing almost 25% of the world to be at next years World Cup plus USA being seeded they’ll have enough to get out the group and probably the round of 32. Thereafter it’ll be a massive struggle probably might benefit from home crowd pushing them on. Alexi Lalas optimistic view point looks a bit far fetched currently.

Well I asked for an England manager that would pick a team rather than the best players. Looks like I've got him!

I imagine the idea with Rashford is to have at least one decent runner beyond Kane if he drops in deep. Like Sterling did before he turned into Gonçalo Guedes with braids. Not sure he's done enough at Villa to merit a recall, mind.

He wouldn't be anywhere near the starting XI if Palmer and/or Saka were fit.

Maybe...could also have a fool making bizarre selections. I guess time will tell. Group games won't give us much either way given the opposition

My big positive is that there appears to be no Jill Scott on the coverage.

Why the fuck are we still persevering with Walker? Everyone else injured?

Trippier finished
TAA injured
James in the squad but he's flakier than George Ndah

I'd still have Livramento ahead of Walker, but he obviously values experience. Maybe more so with Lewis-Skelly and Burn both on debut in the back four, and Konsa only has 9 caps. Tbh I have no idea how he's been playing for Milan, I don't really watch Serie A these days.

88% v 12% possession for england.
If they were to play the same game 25% quicker, and the front three moved about a bit, i would at least be able to stay awake, and the albanian defence might break into a trot.
Am waiting to see what Mr Tickle does second half, but a blind deep sea diver can see gordon for rashford is a must.

As I get older I get less and less interested in England, consider myself just a club man now really.

Probably doesn't help that most England teams are full of unlikeable twats who I can't stand in th PL. Was it always like that and supporting a team hardly in the top flight meant I didn't notice? 😅

When tournaments come around I do care. It's a backhanded compliment I suppose, but qualifying groups these days are just a necessary evil and break up the club season.

Being a PL team definitely gives you a more negative view of players. Shearer and Kane both went down in my estimation when watching them ref live

You're not alone. Hard to go from detesting the likes of Henderson and Kane trying to ref games, diving and generally being unlikeable to wanting them to win.

I'm watching a different game to you. Passion, skill, committment, intensity, tactical awareness, some great fast attacking moves as far as I can determine.

There again it's St Helens vs Warrington 😉

Well neither of the above 2 mentioned have played a PL game in 2 years. Henderson at best would be bit part player in the England side.
We’ve had our fair share of players trying to ref games to.
Problem is weak officiating.

Foden been poor and Dan Burn is showing why Howe has been smart to hide him at that LB/CB role as his attacking corners has been decent but he has had 4 or 5 woeful defensive moments.

Otherwise fairly happy with this. The tempo has been controlled and smart if a little lacking, but there has been some good phases of fast attacking play. Rice, Jones and Bellingham looks a potentially fantastic midfield.
