Wolves Kit Thread

When you see the likes of Liverpool getting into bed with dodgy partners you can only presume it is a case of take their money upfront and you will do. Not a lot of clubs doing proper checks.
If the money is there, how much do they even care where it comes from?

Recent evidence re: the PIF suggests that they don’t, at all.

Money Shop, SportingBet, W88, ManBetX all shite sponsors - not the sort of companies that should be allowed on the front of football shirts IMO

The most ill-fitting thing I've ever seen on the front of a shirt was the Bathams logo on an Albion kit. Think it was a one off thing a few years ago. Made me feel ill - like a prime cut of fillet steak served on a bed of cold sick.

Silverbug with their chode logo was poor too. All so Jez could get some IT stuff done on the cheap. 4D chess from our great leader as usual.

Sponsors ruin most shirts. I’ve got a version of the white Castore shirt without a sponsor on and it looks so much better.

I don't mid sponsors as long as they're not too garish, I think sponsorless shirts look like there is something missing. As far as ours go Goodyear was obviously the GOAT but I loved W88 too, ignoring the issue of their business but aesthetically it looked great on our shirts - Black 'W' for Wolves and 88 for the Sherpa Van win!

I'm not sure I buy into that, sponsorship has been ubiquitous for 40 years or more. Plain shirts look odd now, not the other way round.

It's all a bit "shitheap death trap 80s grounds were better than the likes of the Madejski Stadium". No they weren't. There's character and there's plain horrible.

I wouldn't go so far as to say that sponsor-less shirts look weird these days (unless it's a case like Chicago this season where the design clearly left space for a sponsor logo that I guess fell through late on), but I agree that unless it's truly awful, I barely even notice them anymore.

United got pelters for the Chevy sponsorship but I don't know how much more design agnostic you can get than a golden cross. Some folks will just always chafe at it; and tbf the companies that get sponsorship deals for shirts can by and large get fucked.

Fucking tinpot, mickey mouse nonsense...

I think I like sponsorless shirts because they aren’t the norm. Barcelona’s shirts were good without a sponsor and I liked Forests plain one this season.

I do have a fondness for the classic sponsors from my childhood though due to the nostalgia I guess. Goodyear for us, Sharp for Man Utd, JVC for Arsenal etc…

I agree with you about Barca, probably as they resisted having one for so many years after they became the norm. I loved the traditional Barca shirts of the 1980s made by Meyba, no fancy patterns or wonky stripes, just plain red and blue stripes, floppy collar and Barca crest

Excuse me, Dreamcast is the correct Arsenal choice. I’m not biased.

you need to sit down and have a really long chat with @Boozad re who are the definitive "classic sponsors". Like you I have intrinsically linked some clubs with some sponsors. Getting to chat with Gav about it blew my mind though. It was a very intense, interesting and fun conversation!
