Had we had him on loan the season before, and drink-drive-deano stuck him right mid? Some classic FM scouting in the first one on Dicko.
"He looks good, sign him"
Keith Andrews was outstanding in that game. Don’t think he ever got close to that standard for us ever again.25 years ago today
Never recovered from the red card at Palace right at the end of the season (which was stupid). Meant he was banned for the start of the next season so he wasn't in the team, then we signed Cameron and Rae on top of that, so he was immediately down the pecking order and only getting scraps here and there.Keith Andrews was outstanding in that game. I’d forgotten about the sending off. He definitely regressed the following season and lost the energy he had in the Albion game. I remember leaving the ground thinking we’d got a Championship Roy Keane!Never recovered from the red card at Palace right at the end of the season (which was stupid). Then the following season - when we now had Ince as well - broke his leg at Southampton.
Didn't look after himself well in those days either (I've mentioned before the time I saw him in a shite Irish pub, at 3pm on a Saturday when we were playing away...moaning about not getting a chance) so no game time and poor habits meant when he did play, he wasn't anything like fit enough, and he wasn't talented enough to get away with that.
He and Proudlock were good in 2000/01 and both messed it up (the latter more so).
