Deserved win against a good team (who we nullified very well).
Well done Wolves and particularly Bruno. Got it largely right, even when we started todrop too deep, had a little spell of trying to keep it up and be a threat on the break.
Maybe some people forgot quite how good *we* are. (These bookies know what they'retalking about, dontcha know.) Excellent performance all round (more or less, but I'm in no mood to start criticising).
That’s a seriously impressive performance to beat a very good West Ham team and stop them creating much at all. Yeah we sat back a bit too early instead of looking for a second but it worked out fine. Brilliant goal too, worthy of winning any game.
Missed the first 30 mins, but I don't give a fuck.
Not a bad player on the pitch, we took it to them big time, now we know how to handle sides who press.
Lage was magnificent, he picked up that shit from palace, shook the shit out of it, and gave us a team.
Only complaint, should have been traore for hwang, podence was my man of the match.
I was one of the few optimists on the build up thread , but after 15 minutes we looked a bit flat. But then we kicked on and it coincided with Podence coming to life. Raul was immense as was Kilman. Neves ran everywhere and Moutinho was much further forward. Well deserved win . Makes up for two rinsing from them last year . I thought zKilman Coady and Saiss marshalled Antonio and Bowen very well. Another clean sheet for Sa too with no hint of and eccentric behaviour. Happy days . Well done Bruno
We certainly deserved that and dominated the game until around the 70th minute.
We sat back - as we often seem to do after taking the lead - but I think that was less to do with scoring and more to do with (i) fatigue and (ii) West Ham piling on the pressure.
We really need a new CM in the squad to help us keep control of games like this - Moutinho and Neves were both great, but were getting overrun (not helped due to one being old and the other being on a yellow).
Thought we were in total control for much of the match. We were excellent in the third quarter of the game, our front three really came into it, and we made it count with a really well-worked goal.
Delighted with the result. Didn’t expect it beforehand (mind you, I didn’t expect Watford to do Utd over 4-1 - football, eh?!) - first 15 minutes or so I was worried, but we improved dramatically and defended very well at the end (although if we’d conceded it wouldn’t have surprised me). Bruno with the changes at about the right time and Adama did get us up the pitch a few times so good on him.
Delighted and going to sink a few cold ones tonight!
I am over the moon with this win, West Ham were on a good run of form, well done boys, my weekend is bloody great. Oh whats the odds for Soljkaaer to get the boot next wek.
Fully deserved win, we were the much better team throughout. Lovely goal, superbly made and taken. And for how Antonio totally bullied us last year, he barely had a look in today. Neves was outstanding and was superior to Rice in every way I thought. Jimenez, Kilman, Saiss and Coady also excellent. Podence started slowly but came to life and had some really nice moments. No bad performances from anyone.
I thought we were absolutely brilliant throughout. We defended well early as West Ham were playing some extremely tidy stuff out on the wings. Not sure what changed but after about 10 minutes we totally suffocated them out of anything useful in possession.
The most impressive thing about today for me is that when we were looking for the goal, we totally controlled the game via possession, and once we got that goal, we continued to control the game via our positioning and clever defensive rotations. A fantastic 90 minutes of team football.
It was an excellent performance. I was really worried having watched quite alot of West Ham so far this season, I thought they were going to steam roller us.
We totally controlled them, created quite a few good chances and restricted them to virtually nothing. Neves was just absolutely phenomenal.
