Wolves 0 Spurs 1 - Verdict Thread

There's also a lot of negativity and baggage surrounding him now for his involvement in this shit show, see the reaction to him from the stands these past few games, he's not shaking that off going into next season which is why the hair brained idea of appointing a manager in November with a view to him being in charge for the following season, no matter what, is a nonsense idea
“Any questions about the job Rob?”
“Just one really. I’m a professional football manager so have a clear understanding I’m being asked to be responsible for a relegation that will take 6 months, during which we’ll likely get stuffed regularly, and quite plausibly the entire team are borderline unmanageable. Especially when we’re down. Which could be weeks before the end of the season. So my question is, don’t you think it all sounds a bit untenable?”
“Don’t worry Rob. It all hinges on the reaction of football fans. Wolves ones at that. And as you know, they’re incredibly tolerant of persistent failure and rarely over react”.
“Great. You’re right. What could go wrong. I can start Monday”

Look at the cost to Southampton about not getting their appointment right at the beginning of the season. They’d be nailed on for promotion but now have the lottery of the play offs. We’ve had more than half a season of seeing what Edwards can do. His record against those around us and those who could be with us and fighting against us in the championship next season is appalling. Don’t worry though because Spurs or West Ham & Burnley won’t be starting next season with a better squad than we might***** have. Thats before you look at what their managers have done in the past.

Apparently we had two on target? I can’t think of the other apart from along ball from Sa first half that went straight through to the keeper?
We talked about this in the pub after the game and no one could remember the other and the Sa long ball was the best we came up with as well!

This 'he deserves a chance' bullshit does my head in.
Me too. If anyone in recent years “deserved a chance” it was Barry Douglas but Nuno made a tough call and let him go. Why? Because he knew Jonny would be better. Everybody accepts it when it is applied to a player so why doesn’t the same apply to a manager. There’s a little evidence RE can do the job other than getting a Luton side already on an upward trajectory up and a decent start at Middlesbrough. There’s a lot more evidence against. I can accept that Luton were always going to be up against it in the PL so won’t hold the relegation against him, though they regularly seemed to get into good positions in games and then find a way to lose them. Once in the Championship he oversaw a rebuild and what happened? He set them on course for a second relegation and there’s been little from his time at Wolves to suggest he’ll do any better here. We probably won’t get relegated but I seriously doubt we’ll trouble the playoffs let alone the automatic places. Bin him now not in November!

The thing is, if Edwards is 'given a chance' (like 20-odd games isn't a chance) for the start of next season, then he'll be inextricably linked to and heavily influencing our recruitment and consequent playing approach. Our squad will be full of Dan Neil's and Tommy Doyles.

Yes, you can change that midway through a season and possibly succeed...but why are we as fans pushing that as acceptable? Haven't we had enough of that for the past few years? Haven't we learned from how it's now blown up in our faces?
I'm not sure they are Edwards' players in isolation, more likely Jackson's with some input from Edwards. Given last Summer's debacle they can't just sign the players the manager likes, it needs to come with some greater planning than that...he says hopefully

We've managed to mess it up in a variety of different ways.

Appointing a patsy of a manager who never deserved to be on a 100 man shortlist because unlike his predecessor, he wouldn't say no when we got offered shite Mendes players, or kick up a fuss if he was told we were selling someone. He was of course shit and set us back years on his own.

Appointing a (by comparison) elite manager but lying completely about future budgets, leading to us wasting a summer where all we signed until the final days of the window were two of the worst free transfers imaginable, and the manager left 6 days before the season started.

Changing tack completely and letting a manager sign whoever he wanted, nearly all of them to be awful, and he was gone by November anyway.

Top work.

Maybe it was when he nipped ahead of the defender chasing a long Sa ball and Kinky headed it away?

Clearly not a "shot" however if Kinky hadnt been there it would have rolled in.

Edit: phone autocorrected to Kinky... 👀
