Wolves 0 Spurs 1 - Verdict Thread

Such as?

Sorry but I don't buy that.

There's nobody?

Nobody who would value being part of a Championship team but would also value the experience of half a season PL football?

That's what I don't buy. There are always opportunities to strengthen.

We did try for Che as well but his club wouldn't play ball.

I could give you 3 names just from Famalicão if you want.

Matias de Amorim
Ibrahima Ba
Rodrigo Pinheiro

All would improve our team, MdA would be a little bit more expensive but the other 2 would be cheap. They'd all be realistic players to target in the Championship and I'm imagining would all jump at the experience to play PL football, even for a struggling team.

And why wouldn't they just wait six months and see if an actual Premier League team came knocking?

They wouldn't have PL interest, they're not at that level just yet.

All early enough in their careers to see a move to the Championship as a positive step towards that level, either through promotion or the transfer market. Also with the bonus of actually getting to play a bit at that level for a few months first, with the associated pay rise.

The teams garbage, Tolu is garbage, but he should be playing him as at least lumping to him has a more than 0.1% chance of being successful because this team isnt capable of anything else and whatever he is trying at the moment is a disaster.

Tolu is one area where he seems to have made his mind up.
Been pretty brutal with him since that Palace penalty miss

Id agree to get rid of him for sure, but at the moment we're paying his wages and we cant play through teams, we cant beat anyone 1v1, we cant counter, so hitting up to the big man and playing off second balls is our only play. We functioned well with Armstrong behind Tolu at Palace and hasnt done it since

Agreed. Although Tolu is very unlikely to be here next season it would give the players around him more of an opportunity to show what they’re capable of. Yesterday aside from the three centre halves we didn’t have any players over about 5’10” and our main “tactic” was hoofing forwards when Spurs pressed. It was utter madness.

Id argue its not the tactic, its just what ends up happening as none of the back 3 are good on the ball and were incapable of playuing through people or dribblng past people.

with a unfit unmotivated squad
I appreciate the balance. But you can’t have half a year, a transfer window and a mini pre-season and turn out the abject filth of the last three games. It’s complete garbage and it’s his work. Thats before you use the evidence of your own eyes and ears when you watch and listen to him and his team.

It becomes the tactic for the exact reasons you state and that being the case not having at least one player who can hold the ball up is madness. No point having Mané and Rodrigo on the pitch if we can’t play it to their feet, so sacrifice one for Tolu.
