Wolves 0-1 Norwich (FA Cup 4th Rd): Verdict Thread

You’re right. I am not enjoying it at the moment. I think we have seriously missed an opportunity. I backed Bruno and Sa In August. I backed a top 10 finish. I look at the squad now and it’s one injury and a couple of suspensions from playing the kids. City Liverpool arsenal twice Chelsea Spurs West Ham still to come, Norwich and Burnley still to play and we haven’t scored against them, an improving Newcastle and more solid Watford and Lampards Everton to come too. There are no easy games in this league and this squad will just run out of puff as it doesn’t have the depth. 11 goalless games this season too. I can’t pin my hopes on Neto and Jonny. Who knows how long it will take for them to get match fit. Yes I m pretty miserable about it at the moment.
Can I suggest football isn't for you?

Maybe give up following a team you can't control and get no pleasure from?

It didn't help but it isn't the entire reason we lost.

On paper, the team we put out should be beating theirs yesterday, really.
It should but looking at Kiddie and Plymouth yesterday they also gave far superior teams a right scare.

And no our transfers weren't the entire reason but even Bruno alluded to them and he clearly isn't happy.

I hope he doesn't walk at the end of the season or Mendes find another job for him because Fosun aren't running the club properly.

I'm still holding on to a shred of hope that Fosun are simply biding their time... But it's a shred that thins by the day.

Summer is going to be a very interesting time on this forum.

Someone with more time and sense than me should check our record against Dean Smith teams. It really does feel like he always knows how to stop us.
I'm not going to do it, but it's not true. Just from memory beat Brentford in the last minute under Lambert, win and draw in the Championship winning season, double over Villa in their first PL season, beat Villa this year

Yeah the Villa result this year goes against what I'm saying but I think we can agree that we won that match when Douglas Luiz got subbed, prior to that we didn't look like we had a hope.

Just a gut feeling I'd had the last few times we'd played against a team he managed.

Yesterday would've been a perfect game for the likes of Giles and MGW, albeit the latter isn't fit yet, but you can imagine they would've added the spark we were missing.

You're deluded if you think our transfer policy didn't affect yesterday's result.
I don't think so, we played shit. We had the players to play much better than we did.

I don't buy that individual and team below average performance is directly attributable to our transfer policy.

If we played to our potential we win that game.

When the manager is telling you the squad isn't what he wants then you should listen to him don't you think?

You’re right. 49 years of following the same team and have witnessed significant ups and downs. The structure and finance of the premier league does completely favour the sky six plus those with ambitious owners with deep pockets. I thought that included Fosun. Evidence suggests otherwise for the last two years I always thought I would get a season ticket when I retired but I am questioning that. We probably won’t ever compete with the big boys in the long term . May as well follow efl team . Keep the colours and go to Cambridge? Who knows. I am not in a good place with it all at the moment .

That's different though, the manager saying the squad isn't where he wants it to be as some kind of excuse for losing to Norwich.

For what Bruno to be saying, in this instance, to he true means that Norwich have a better squad than we do. I don't believe that's the case.

I don’t really think it should. It’s a starting XI which had no real way to score a goal. 0 League goals from the front 3 or WBs in half a season. And despite a recent flurry from Neves and Moutinho, that is still the exception rather than the rule. Particularly when the poor performance of the team in an attacking sense meant we couldn’t get them close enough to the Norwich box anyway.

It shouldn’t have lost but any team can concede from a set piece.

I do understand the disappointment, but the for the last 40 years of your 49 years we've mainly been average to shit, so a bit of perspective is needed

Lage needs to accept these are the cards he’s been dealt. Using it as an excuse when he plays those cards badly really doesn’t cut it.

Mate that's madness, how can you have followed the team that long and not be enjoying the ride atm. Yesterday was cack and we've had a few dire performances this season, but overall its going great.
Obviously we need to kick on from here that will depend on Fosun spending a bit of money. For a middling team like Wolves that doesn't mean spending massive necessarily, but we do need a few upgrades and replacements.

He may have had the rug pulled from underneath him by the owners promising players and not delivering.
