Councils were the things that were binned in 1974, not the counties themselves.

Im in Cofton Hackett, but use the name Northfield Wolf because its the name i used when i used to contribute to the Fanzine A.L.O.B. Youre so right about those Blues wankers though.other direction mate. bartley green/weoley castle way.
when I moved here, in trying to explain where it was to a friend from university, i said we lived next to northfield. he was ex-forces, and did some prison warder employment befire I met him. I mentioned WC/BG and he had no idea, but he knew northfield because " a lot of the inmates came from there!"Im in Cofton Hackett, but use the name Northfield Wolf because its the name i used when i used to contribute to the Fanzine A.L.O.B. And we hated Leeds for trying to bribe us into throwing the match (allegedly).I remember that one, Covenry were playing Bristol City, and the Sunderland result came through, so both sides just passed the ball to each other on the halfway line till the ref blew the final whistle. Going back a it further, Leeds hated us in the 70s because we beat them and stopped them winning the League Title on the last game of the season.(Happy days).
Same here.Jeez. Got to the rivalry bit and there's WAY too many questions going over the same thing. Sorry but I got bored and quit.
Sunnds about right Lemonjelly. I also remember that bribery scandal. Apparently a betting syndicate phoned our full back Bernard Shaw (no not the fucking poet) and asked him to throw the game. Our manager at the time, Bill McGarry found out and hit the roof, and told the players, any mistakes and they would never pull on a Wolves shirt again. Hence a brilliant result for us, and as they say, the rest is history.when I moved here, in trying to explain where it was to a friend from university, i said we lived next to northfield. he was ex-forces, and did some prison warder employment befire I met him. Yes, i read about this recently. Jimmy Hill had a significant part to play in this. Here's a good one - Sunderland hate Coventry. Because it was one of the two to go down in 1977, Cov played silly buggers with delaying their kick off, heard Sunderland had lost with 15 minutes left to play and then played out a convenient draw.
That's some mighty fine grudge holding.
Scotland fans also hated Jimmy Hill because he called David Narey's goal vs Brazil in the 1982 World Cup a "toe poke".Yes, i read about this recently. Jimmy Hill had a significant part to play in this.
I always thought Billy Bremner allegedly offered Frank Munro cash to give away a penalty? That match is one of my favourite nights at MolineuxSunnds about right Lemonjelly. Apparently it was a betting syndicate, and wasnt Molineux packed that night, great night though.I always thought Billy Bremner allegedly offered Frank Munro cash to give away a penalty? That match is one of my favourite nights at Molineux
Heard Johnny Giles on about this recently, he reckoned the ref was also rumoured to have been offered a few quid for a Leeds win. Seems to prove he wasnt crooked he denied Leeds a stone wall penalty when Shaw blatently handled it.I always thought Billy Bremner allegedly offered Frank Munro cash to give away a penalty? Although, during the game Shaw blatantly handled the ball in our penalty area and the referee played on.Sunnds about right Lemonjelly. I also remember that bribery scandal. He picked it up, I think, though you could tell from the look on his face he was mortified, thinking the ref had blown. I seem to recall Peter Osgood doing something similar on one occasion.Although, during the game Shaw blatantly handled the ball in our penalty area and the referee played on.
Got no recollection of that.....mind you I was a 4'10" 14 year old and as there were 97,000 there, I found it quite difficult to see anythingHe picked it up, I think, though you could tell from the look on his face he was mortified, thinking the ref had blown.
