Whisk(e)y

Had a few glasses of Ardbeg 10 last night, brilliant whisky.

Got bottle of Auchentoshan Three Wood from Mrs Jabba - very good indeed.

My eldest bought me a bottle of Shanky’s Whip for Christmas, it ain’t very strong 33% and I like my spirits to start at 40.
Having said that, it’s very nice, a bit like drinking your favourite bar of chocolate.

Colleagues got me a bottle of Tullibardine Sovereign for a leaving present. Looking forward to giving it a go.

Happy belated Birthday Trev. Hope you didn't get too smash-burgered.

Had a whiskey related mishap recently. The wife bought me tickets to the Roe&Co distillery tour as its one of my favourite Irish whiskeys, so I went with a mate (no kids). We got to sample 4 of the whiskeys on the tour and then make our own cocktail at the end. One of the whiskeys was a 60%ABV. After the tour we hit the cocktail bar and ordered a few whiskey cocktails. We got chatting to an American couple and ended up in rounds with them so I would have had at least 4 cocktails in a short space of time.

I don't recall leaving that bar but apparently we went across the road to another bar where I had half a pint and then decided I had enough and left. I don't remember any of this, I only remember waking up in the back of a cab on the way home. I asked the driver where he picked me up and it was a 10min walk from the bar. Again, I had zero recollection of walking around and no memory of hailing a cab. Got home and fumbled around on the doorstep looking for my keys. Finally got in and went straight to bed. Next day I was dying, absolutely poisoned. The wife knew I was pissed by watching the footage back from the doorbell camera.
In my defence I had been awake since 5:20am that day, hadn't eaten dinner as it was an evening tour and my tolerance for booze is very low at the moment as I cut down my alcohol intake since becoming a parent.
I enjoy whiskey and thought I could handle it but this experience was a shock and made me realise I can't keep up with my mates who don't have kids.
