Welcome to Wolves Raul Jimenez

Timmy 1
Following Rui Patricio's arrival yesterday, fellow @Wolves summer signing Raul Jimenez arrives today.

What a player this guy is. Can't fault him.

He has kicked on no end from the first ten or so games. In recent weeks he has been awesome. Amazing that Jota scores a hatrick and looked awesome yet it's a toss up for motm with Raul

He only put in a couple of poor performances up to and including Cardiff (where he was woeful) but since then he has been outstanding

Just Watford (when he shouldn't have played) and Cardiff really.

There was nothing wrong with him at the start of the season, there was just a silly narrative going round that he missed loads of easy chances (he didn't).

Still love the brilliant challenge he did on himself v West Ham. Top defending.

Met 2 Club América fans who had come all the way from New York to watch Wolves last night because of our Raúlito. One was Mexican-American, the other Guatemalan. Both had bought Wolves home shirts and scarves which had been signed by all the players. Brilliant stuff.

That sort of thing is so important for the Fosun idea of growing the club. So, so important.

There are a couple of America supporters who work at a Mexican restaurant near me and they now ask me about Raul each time I go in.

Don't think they knew a thing about us before.

Estadio Azteca is on my list of grounds I want to go to before I die.

Their fans are fucking insane.

It's a fucking disaster now. I would have loved to have seen it in 1986 by now it is a mess. A big mess. One I would love to see. But it is falling apart.

Would rather go to the Bombonera or the Monumental.

Haven’t they just finished renovating the Azteca?

The Azteca has had some pretty serious renovation done recently FWIW so it's not quite condemned like it was threatening to become a few years back.

It also has its own stop on Mexico City's light rail which is convenient.

Saw the stadium from afar in 2012. Looked awesome even from outside.

There is a reason why the NFL game was taken away...

That was only because of issues with the field/pitch. It had been a bad rainy season and then in the weeks leading up to the scheduled game there were a number of concerts and soccer matches.

In general it is probably the best kept stadium in Mexico. It's a symbol.

Wasn't that due to the pitch being shit due to the replacement failing thanks to a ton of rain over a long period, rather than the Stadium itself?

Edit: Alan answers me before I hit reply

That was down to the shambles of a pitch, IIRC

After a google, yep
