TV Packages/Streaming

Virgin XL TV, 200mb £71 p/m (with phone)
Amazon Prime
NOW TV
Netflix

Used to have Sky Sports but I didn't watch enough to warrant the price. Just buy day passes now.

Following on from the thread on Sky, I was just wondering what deals/subscriptions people have?
Currently, I have:

  • BT Broadband and BT TV box with BT Sport included - basic kit that you can't record stuff on
  • 1 month's Amazon Prime (trial - doubt I'll keep it, the video interface is $#@!e)
  • 3 month's NOW TV Entertainment Package (very good - got a free code with my PS4)

I can't really afford Sky Sports, unfortunately, I'd love someone to release a broadband/TV package with no line rental required.

Thinking I might get Netflix once my NOW TV subscription runs out in October. What's it like these days?

TalkTalk have an offer on that ends today 3rd Aug..
£28.50 for Broadband + TV + 8 Sky Sports channels. Includes free set-up and free TV box and includes line-rental, for 18mths.

It's a cracking price. The downside is having to deal with TalkTalk.

I have Sky fibre which is about £20 a month plus lone rental. Can't get sky to where I am as I'm renting and there's no dish plus now I'm on my own I can't really afford it. Luckily I can use my parents sky go through my PS4 to get the whole lot. Before that i used now tv which I thought was very good. I miss being able to set things up to record and series link but other than that I've got everything set up quite nicely (until my parents cancel sky sports)

Also have Netflix which always has plenty of stuff for me to watch.

Tbf, it's been about a month and we haven't got a single thing in My Shows or set to record. Maybe we should have cut the cord!

I've used Playstation Vue for months now and it's fantastic. No idea if it's available in the UK or ever will be, though.

We have Sky Sports because we are both football obsessed.

For movies we have Now TV. It's normally £9.99 per month but we got a deal for free for two months. I then went to cancel online and at the very last second they offered it me for £1.99 p/m for two months. Did the same again when that expired and got it for £4.99 p/m for four months. I won't be paying any more than that.

We have just changed Broadband and phone to Plusnet. Very reasonable, great speed and excellent customer service.

Wouldn't mind Prime at the moment to watch the Frank Turner documentary Get Better.

https://www.amazon.co.uk/Get-Better-About-Frank-Turner/dp/B072R2Y6NM

Watched this last night.

Frank Turner is great but I found this really dull. It's didn't have to be and I don't quite know how they managed it, but it's just..... dull. If you didn't know who FT was, it would have been a complete waste of time. It was interesting up to a certain point but even now, I'm not quite sure what the point of it was.

Anyway, I've not been that impressed with the content on Prime so I'm not going to continue with it at the moment - signed up for a month's trial on Netflix instead.

Yeah, I've not been massively sold on prime content. The films are better than netflix though, plus they do have Westworld and Man in the High Castle - which are pretty much worth it alone.

Westworld is a Sky exclusive so really you will have to wait a hell of a long time till season two comes to Netflix.

That shows I probably have too many subscriptions then :(

Sneaky Pete is good, Bosch is decent, Preacher is fucking awesome... I love Prime to be honest.

Tried all those and none really grabbed me (apart from Preacher, but that's not really my thing).

I watched their pilot of Oasis, that was great. I don't mind Animal Kingdom too.
