Tottenham Hotspur (A) 29.12.2018

Half time - we have done OK without really threatening them in any way

If we want something from this then just need to press them & have a real go - might well end up with a big defeat if we do, but that's the only way we will achieve anything from this

Traore a real threat today beating players winning corners free kicks and yellow cards. Not sure on the goal but my initial thought was Rui should save it saying that it was a good strike.

Donk looks tidy if unspectacular.

Jiminez and Traore the highlights for us so far we are still in this.

Played well I think. Donck has grown in to the game as it's gone on, Traore has been dangerous and with two yellow cards on that side there is potentially more to come.

That is the big potential plus point for the second half.

A solid half against a team that are on fire. No disgrace at all but we need to be solid at the start of the 2nd half

Thankfully we've only got Portugal's third most capped player, and one of England's best prospects in years to come on

For Cav? What?

I think we need to try and get control of the ball in the middle of the park. To do that we need Mout and MGW on. Meaning we will need to sacrifice one of the front three. My choice would be Cav as Traore poses more of a threat and Raul is most likely to score if the three.

Talksport say spurs are cruising at half time.

Our corners have been pretty crap though, we need to Improve On those

Been crap all season, Moutinho sometimes doesn't reach the front post yet we never put anyone there.... A bugbear of mine.

We are so deep that those cave blokes with MBE's are coming on 2nd half

They've knocked it around and held us at arms length really. And we haven't strung much together when we do get the ball.

On chances they deserve to be ahead, but we've restricted them to long shots only. Just a shame one of them flew in.

Be interested to see if Traore switches sides 2nd half. Far as I remember Nuno's been keeping him on the dugout side a la Pulis. He's looked good so far though, would be a shame to change it unnecessarily. And Davies being on a yellow already means we should be targeting him really.

Cav's been a bit up and down but he's not getting a huge amount of support from Jonny who IMO looks a bit wary of coming forward (understandable, given Spurs' threat)

We've not really created a clear opportunity but there's been some good stuff up top. Still very much in this.

Done ok but a few sloppy moments of posession have put us in trouble. Not troubled them remotely.

Oh and Cavaleiro having his usual "start a game" issue of losing the ball constantly.

He's already lost the ball, Winks could disappear and that ball still goes through to Son. The foul has no impact on that move.
Such a bizarre argument.

Basically you are saying any foul is allowed if the player doesn't have the ball.

Maybe Coady should just drop the nut on Kane? As long as Kane doesn't have the ball, by your interpretation it's fine.

It's not enough of a foul since he didn't rob him of possession or stop him from keeping the ball. It's a nudge off the ball. Not enough for me.

We've done ok but Spurs were totally in control. Hopefully we can find some possession in the 2nd half and maybe open them up a bit.

think we have done okay. A few yards too deep at times but think that was because we became more worried about movement of their attacking players, which has been sublime at times

Neves and Dendoncker have done a decent job considering the overload they have at times. Wonder if nuno might tweak that for the second half, they could do with some help.

Traore and Cav working very hard. Traore has had some good moments where he has looked very dangerous in his own way. Hopefully more to come!

We are a bit wasteful with the ball, trying to play forwards to early

Dendoncker predictably looks rusty, doesn't help that he got knobbled by a clumsy Sissoko, can someone explain how that was a free kick to Spurs?

Maybe Mark has the answer...

75% of our goals have come in the second half so still possibilities

Spurs are a quality side, but the only way we get something from this is to have a real go at them (though that brings danger) - might think about Vinagre in the second half to put pressure on their back line - midfield not dominating at all yet so a change there might be needed

Missing the revitalised Diogo Jota at the moment
