The Video Games Thread II - The Resurrection

Some ass hat just tried to steal $300 from my paypal account, bet he was $#@!ing devastated when it was declined due to my account being maxed out. Dumb bastard, you cant steal from the empty account.

Had to change my password and confirm my location with some stupid automated phonecall $#@! but now all is good again.

Loads of people are being done.

Sony could be getting a lot of people coming after them for this fuck up.

Yup, luckily for me being a lazy bastard i never verified my bank account with paypal and the other day i had an email saying i wouldn't be able to spend anymore without doing so, this cheeky bastard chose the wrong bloke to try and steal from.

Sony could be getting a hell of a lot of bother over this though, by the looks of it whoever hacked their system has took everything so they've got email accounts and passwords, any of those match up elsewhere they'll be in like my paypal, and card details of anyone thats purchased anything off the PS network.

eBay and Paypal seem to be the main targets.

In my case it was just a random payment he tried to make from my credit card, would've been easy money for him i guess.

Black Ops 'Escalation' Map Pack- on first evidence this is a suberb addition to the game. 4 very good and reasonably large maps, no pissy little arenas where lucky grenades are all that matter. Lots of rabbit warren type levels with plenty of ambush spots for campers and snipers!

Haha, I'm sorry, bit late to this thread it seems, but serious flashbacks! Played that game a ridiculous amount when I was a nipper. Cracking stuff.

Also, as I was distracted by early 90s graphics I haven't read the rest of the thread yet - does anyone here play Battlefield: Bad Company 2 on the PC... or is everyone stuck with consoles? (and playing CODFLOPS or whatever it is called?) :icon_mrgreen:

Anyone been playing Portal 2? Superb game.

Only done the co-op stuff round my mates but mine is due to arrive in the post today (when they fecking turn up) for the single player stuff.

Sorry to see some of you having issues with your Sony information... Make sure you change your passwords (which really, should be done once or twice yearly anyways).

Haven't played Portal 2 yet but can't wait to get my hands on it when the price comes down.

I have it for PC but not played it for a couple months now. Just could never find a good server to settle on. Still my tags Psychowolf I believe and if you fancy a game let me know.

Only played the single player through but was superb game. Some puzzles had me stuck for a good few minutes but still made an enjoyable time by the ramblings of Steve Merchant and GLaDOS. Some free DLC which includes the challenge maps is coming soon too, can't wait for it. Yet to do co-op though.

Toon and I had a blast on the new Black Ops maps earlier - they are really, really good. I'd argue that every one of them are better than any of the maps from the last map pack. Some much bigger maps too, but with some chaotic choke points good for both sniping and close combat.

Just need to get rid of all the camping fucktards who refuse to capture any bases, but that always happens when new DLC is released.

Found this elsewhere, no link it was just as a quote like the way I've done it:

A group of hackers says it is planning another wave of cyberattacks against Sony in retaliation for its handling of the PlayStation Network breach.
An observer of the Internet Relay Chat channel used by the hackers told CNET today that a third major attack is planned this weekend against Sony's Web site. The people involved plan to publicize all or some of the information they are able to copy from Sony's servers, which could include customer names, credit card numbers, and addresses, according to the source. The hackers claim they currently have access to some of Sony's servers.

Should the planned attack succeed, it would be the latest blow in a series of devastating security breaches of Sony's servers over the past month. The failure of Sony's server security has ignited investigations by the FBI, the Department of Justice, Congress, and the New York State Attorney General, a well as data security and privacy authorities in the U.K., Canada, and Taiwan.

Several weeks ago the hacker group known as Anonymous targeted several Sony Web sites, including Sony.com and SonyStyle.com, with a distributed denial-of-service (DDoS) attack in retaliation for what its members saw as Sony's unfair legal action against hacker George Hotz. Two weeks ago Sony's PlayStation Network, along with its Qriocity service and Sony Online, were the target of an attack that exposed the personal information of more than 100 million Sony customers. Sony was forced to shut down PSN, Qriocity, and Sony Online, and is currently working to bring them back online after rebuilding the security of its servers.

Sony says it doesn't know who orchestrated what it's calling a "highly sophisticated, planned" attack, but it has dropped hints that the group Anonymous is involved. Kazuo Hirai, chairman of Sony Computer Entertainment, told a Congressional subcommittee in a letter yesterday that the intruders on its servers planted a file named "Anonymous" containing the statement "We are Legion," part of the group's tagline.

Anonymous issued a statement yesterday denying it was involved in the PSN breach. "While we are a distributed and decentralized group, our 'leadership' does not condone credit card theft," the statement said.

Now it seems the same group of hackers that was able to infiltrate the PSN servers is planning to hit back against Sony.

Sony did not immediately respond to a request for comment.

Suffice to say I'm glad I use Xbox Live and not Sony Playstation Network.

If you want a laugh at how stupid some people are, have a read of this:

http://whywasibanned.com/

It's amazing how many total thickets there are. I especially like this:

Gamer: This account here had all the same info and all I got was a Code of Conduct. So why did one account get a warning and my other account get banned? This is not right.

XBLMod: Thank you for pointing out our oversight, this has been corrected and a permanent suspension has been issued. We apologise for any confusion

:ursofunny::facepalm:

Genius, you've got to love people that question irregularities only to be shafted by the correction. I remember when i was looking into buying a phone before, there were lots of people on a forum i frequented that were abusing a glitch on Nokia's website where you could stack up a few codes and get about 40% off the phone on pre-order. Some people were unsure, thinking 3 15% codes would give them 45% off but it just took 15% off each time so it didn't add up as they expected, they contacted Nokia to complain and Nokia fixed the glitch so they had to pay full price for the phone. Cretins.

Because only idiots or teenagers are getting banned to begin with.

Nevermind the fact that my account and xbox are banned.

Anybody got any thoughts on LA Noire, quite tempted to get this but I can't see any reviews yet!

Pre-ordered it yesterday. Reviews aren't out yet that I've seen but the previews have been nothing but glowing. It looks fantastic; LA Noire, Mass Effect 3 and Battlefield 3 are my 'must have' games of the year.

You do know Skyrim is coming out this year? Or isn't that your kind of game, if it isn't I'd recommend giving it a go anyway.

I did know yes, and I'm a HUGE fan of the Fallout games so I'm sure Skyrim would appeal to me. But it's a question of economics and priorities! The 3 I mentioned all appeal to me much more than Skyrim, though I am certain it will be a fantastic game, and one I will no doubt get when money and time allows.
