The Video Games Thread II - The Resurrection

I've somehow ended up rocking a mostly england squad for the majority of the release cycle. ran sessegnon and gomez as LB/CB before TOTS started.

looking forward to patricios TOTW and traore's birthday card being inexpensive; currently 700k, down from 1.8m. nice to have collected all the wolves, but I aint paying that much for traore's card.

already getting annoyed by some of the dumb reactions that have been there for years. fans bitching about a "disappointing season" where we've never dropped below 3rd (well above the club record position) and coming out of a 12 game unbeaten run. board saying disappointed we're not playing attacking or exciting football, despite our goal difference being highest in the league and our attacking efficiency being in its own hemisphere on the league chart. or getting mad at me for not signing enough players despite not coming into any money and them refusing to provide more. don't even have salary for coaches let alone players.

players getting pissed when I tell them I'm gonna rest them a match, press being pissy for no reason. etc

still enjoying playing it and all but goddamn this stuff was annoying over a decade ago

It Takes Two: now having played through a fair bit with the other half, I really recommend it. Co-operative platform/puzzler that you really need to work together on and it leads to some genuinely hilarious moments, some deliberate, some not so much! Me and the good lady who has never really shown much interest in games have thoroughly enjoyed it.

I'm having a play through of Days Gone as it was a PS Plus game this month.

Really enjoying it, even though it's a bit formulaic so far!

I’ll have to get that at some point, absolutely loved Mass Effect back whenever it was that I played it (I don’t want to look it up as I’ll feel incredibly old)

I really enjoyed all of Mass Effect (except scanning the planets in ME2) but not sure I’m ready to do it all again. I’m not averse to replaying games so maybe when it’s reduced to a tenner I may be tempted to pick it up!

I tend to replay Bethesda games a lot because you always find things you missed even after a couple of plays. Replaying Fallout 4 again and finding tons of stuff I missed the first time (and Langers will tell you I can be very meticulous! ).

ME2 is an all time great game but I'm not sure I can see myself replaying it. I dunno, just doesn't seem like I'd get much value from a replay. It's a relatively straight forward story/shooter. I do have friends however who are on their like... 6th playthrough, so maybe I'm missing something.

Those kind of games are hard for me to revisit. Definitely see myself replaying New Vegas at some point though, tbf.

and I've already got 130 hours into FM21 so who the hell am I to say what games have replayability.

up to the champs with Salford in summer 2023. admittedly I've done a fair amount of save scumming in previous versions, but I've done barely any in this one. just minor stuff a handful of times-- testing team talk reactions, negotiations, etc. to get a handle on the current version. our promotion actually came down to the last game, and we lost. had to hold my breath as the elsewhere results loaded, confirming auto-promotion. even played through 2 months of my only GK being injured, etc. a lot more exciting this way.

Blimey - with compound inflation thats over a grand today:

bought doherty to help with my salford save, in the championship

he has been absolutely diabolical. almost bought bennett too glad I didn't

And people say Football Manager isn't realistic.

Finished Mass Effect 1 quite quickly, though I seem to remember it as the most linear of the 3 originals. I shall move onto ME2 with the sentimental feeling that I remember it as one of the best games of all time. Hope its as good as I think!

he was a lot better after I benched and bollocked him for his shit first half of the season. he's got the pace of a man with broken legs at the moment, may sell him off for free.

neville didn't have to approve, we were taken over after double promotion. they don't seem to have the aggressive vision of the manu guys, I'm spending 120k /w on salaries, meanwhile the 23rd place team is spending triple that, the top 3/4 of teams spending 10-20x that, board won't give me anything.

side note, annoying to see that form is as temperamental as ever in the game. I'm either winning every game or not winning ever. lost a playoff spot by 2 points my first season up. second season in 3rd for the first quarter, plummet to 20th. two seperate no-win streaks, of something like 12 and 10 games. ridiculous. finished 16th.
