That’s a blast from the past!
The next Pele I believe from the man himself, seemed to spark of a flurry of 'the next Pele' all of whom pretty much had their careers given the kiss of death by this statement.

Lamptey always stuck in my mind as he did nothing

Apparently the agent's commission on the Haaland deal was €40m 😳

Coutinho to Villa permanent, undisclosed fee.

Potentially bad news for us if it frees up enough wages for Barca to offer Neves a big contract (he would quite obviously go).

Lewandowski not renewing his Bayern deal, so a chance he joins Barca this summer rather than on a free next year. That would take a huge chunk out of their budget.

€20m +50% sell on. The key will be the wages
Do you think that they’ve negotiated the fee down so that they have to cover all of his wages? It doesn’t make sense for Barcelona if a fee was agreed in January and now it’s been reduced by 13m when he’s got other suitors.

Percy saying Coutinho has taken a 70% pay cut

No way anyone was paying that fee, he hasn't been anything special.

I don't know why Villa are wasting a load of resources on him and it's all dead money.

He wanted to go to Villa so has the power I guess, otherwise he stays at Barca on £480k pw. He's took a 70% cut apparently to 'only' £148k a week.

Trincao on a free then?
Neves to Barca makes sense. Trincao as one makeweight and there could be more? If we get three in plus a wedge that would be seen as good business by Fosun. Massively depends on the three makeweight, sure.

Traore Jonny or Semedo would also command a decent fee. We could end up with a kitty to keep within zero net spend. Any news on Coady to Newcastle rumours.

We're not getting anything for Traore as proved by the last two transfer windows.

I dunno, Spurs were happy to pay something for him. Only it wasn't what we were asking and then we got absolutely mugged by Barca. I'd love to know how those negotiations actually went.

I reckon someone will pay £10-12m for him. I would probably keep him at that price for a year and use him more or less exclusively off the bench.

So, assuming Adama returns which he clearly will, who pays his wages for the last six months? He was effectively playing for free as Barcelona couldn't afford it, with the understanding that the shortfall would be made up in his permanent Barcelona contract when done. Surely we can't be liable in any way in this clownshoe of a deal? Surely?

Actually, I have just twigged. We return Trincao with a several million no thanks fee, which Barcelona give to Adama as deferred wages. Fucking hell our negotiators are absolute vermin.
Well worked out! And I agree. We negotiate from a position of who knows .
