The Summer 2025 Transfer Window Thread

.....so seeing as some pretty big clubs in Europe are (hopefully) getting giddy about the eye rolling prick, say we get £20m for him..... Semedo and Sarabia move on (huge wages off the books), £20m-£30m for the rest (i.e. Doyle, Bueno, Sa, Johnstone and Hwang). We look to convince Cunha to give us one more season.....strengthen where we need strengthen. The right man in charge it seems and an upward trajectory. Can we push back to where we were under Nuno?

I'd say you now have more of a logjam where basically anyone from 8th-17th can probably beat each other on any given day, they're all good teams if you set them up properly.

Before you could make a clear bit of daylight between chasing Europe and mid-table nothingness, but can you honestly say now that Fulham are definitively better than Everton, or Bournemouth are definitively better than Wolves, or Brentford are definitively better than Palace, etc etc.

You'd also think that eventually Spurs and United won't be quite so rubbish. Spurs probably an easier club to fix out of the two.

I'd rather just let Cunha go, too much baggage with him now, can't be doing with the pantomime nonsense any more. Also once a player decides he's bigger than the club and wants a move, that's the writing on the wall.
Obviously it all depends how much of the Summer sales money we get to spend on players, that isn't frittered away.

It's still Manchester United, they pay players £300kpw and you don't need to go to Saudi to earn it.
Yep. But as I say, it makes a mockery of his “I want to win titles” stuff. Utd are a million miles away for challenging at the top end of the table.

Quite a few fans on the Utd forums yesterday were of the opinion that Cunha wasn’t very good and/or shit, and on that basis they’ll be signing him for the 60 million quid

They won a major trophy less than 12 months ago and are in a European semi final this season.

As bad as they are right now - which is quite enjoyable to witness - they're a bloody huge global brand and comfortably a step up from us.

I'm not so sure we need cunha to stay.

Ok he wasn't 100% on it against manure, but i am inclined to lean a little towards those who say we played better without him during the fa ban.

He monopolised a lot of the play yesterday and seemed to disturb the rythm of the rest of the midfield and forwards.

We most certainly saw how valuable Bellegarde is, by his absence, and frankly, i don't think we have seen the last of Cunha's tantrums if he stays.

To agree with points made above, if he goes to man u, all this shit about wanting CL and shit, just goes to prove he's got a "bit of a bob on", as we used to say.

Watch his reactions to every tackle he receives, really bad or just football normal, and the blue touchpaper is well visible.
Take the money and give it to vitor, it will be well spent.

Not just leagues though is it. Utd, even when they have been shit have won Cups. That will be enough and if they do win the Europa, he gets CL football.

And they were saying the exact opposite after he ripped them apart at Molineux.

They’re (Utd) miles off winning the league but so are all the clubs, Liverpool have breezed it this year and they’ve ground out results more than blow people away. I’m not convinced they’ll do it again next year (One year too far for Salah? VVD on the decline, TAA off? Robertson finished, a ton of players who have been functional amongst the key names but without those big names being at it…)

You could make the same argument for most. City need a big rebuild, Spurs have very few top players just a load of second rung, Where are Chelsea going? Arsenal are the best placed - settled, young squad just missing a CF but they’re 13 points behind. Newcastle and Villa will kick on again too and won’t be in bad spots with CL money

Arsenal's biggest problem is the Lego headed wanker in the dugout. He oozes perennial runner up.

They could afford Cunha but I'm not sure they need him.

You also told us they thought they were in a relegation battle. Might be worth ignoring?

Was saying to my lad the other day, wonder if Arteta has taken them as far as he can?

Was that before or after they knocked Real Madrid out of the Champions League having won both the home and away ties?
If they hadn’t lost Saka for 3 months they’d be far closer to the title but not signing a genuine number 9 has also cost them dearly in the last couple of seasons.

He's an upgrade on Trossard and Martinelli but you'd assume they'll prioritise a striker.

That's fair enough but over the last 3 or 4 seasons they've fallen away at the end of the season when in a great position (Premier ĺeague) and I wonder if Arteta's attitude and general demeanour had an effect on that.
It's possible I'm letting my dislike of the guy colour my judgement of course😆
