The Summer 2025 Transfer Window Thread

For the record I'm all for us improving the keepers. Sa is a fucking living nightmare and he's the best we have by a distance.

Just we aren't ever going to carry three senior keepers on serious money who all expect to play all at the same time, pretty much no-one does that, we certainly wouldn't.

Sá can't be an option for much longer. I've never known a starting keeper to miss random games so consistently.

You can bank on him randomly crying off (always on the day of a game) 4-6 times a season then he'll have a minimum 4 where he's a hologram (already had one this season vs City where he made literally no saves) and then throw in the 3+ penalties he'll give away because he's a cretin who just barrels into opponents.

I really hope this is the last season I ever have to watch him.

Doubt he will want to play in the championship so it will be

Finally, a benefit of going down.

I've said before, he's miles away from the worst first choice keeper I've seen us have, but he's definitely one of my most disliked.

He’s confusing. Has had more than one spell of being superb but has serious flaws and as has been said, plenty of random absences and clearly tried to leave at least twice

The huge issue with Johnstone is that he literally never comes for crosses. He's glued to his line. So teams will swing them in forever as there is absolutely zero deterrent. Eventually they'll score off one.

Sa isn't even anything special in this regard but he is thousands of times better than Subbuteo Sam.

Thought Johnstone was alright at the weekend, in fairness. Certainly wouldn’t want him in nets every week though!
He was fine, made some good saves, only had my heart in my mouth a couple of times.
I agree with what DW says about him but the goal wasn't on him this time.

Yeah, I think I (harshly) said he could have come off his line to try and collect the cross that they scored from, but looking back you want Agbadou to deal with it rather than Johnstone.

Also more should have been done to stop the cross. Tbf it was great ball in and terrific run and header.

Johnstone was okay at the weekend but the issue is he never saves that goal, ever. Sa and the other lower tier keepers will occasionally pull out a blinder there every now and then. Johnstone always lets that in.

He is well clear in the Post shot expected goal rating though. +0.8 to Sa's -2.2; which is a league worst.

Another one from Liam Keen. Apparently we were really close to getting Matt O’Riley over the line from Brighton but the player wasn’t convinced and chose Marseille instead.

Akin to Paddy and Kate Winslet becoming an item then.

I hope you are well @Paddingtonwolf. The place isn’t the same without you contributing.
