The R.I.P. Thread

That's such a sad way to go ! The wife had seen her on Good morning a few months ago and said she was skeletal.

Nikki was very entertaining. She was the only reason I watched that particular series of BB, watching her lose her rag with people was great.

What a shitty way to go.

Nikki from Big Brother. Anorexia at aged 38.
I hate to hear about things like this. I don't know much about her, but I can't help feel that TV exploits people who maybe they shouldn't. It's a massive assumption from me, but she had a history of anorexia and maybe TV has a duty of care to protect people who need it.

I may well be totally wrong here, but is it unusual for people to die of anorexia? I know people suffer with it horrifically, but is it unusual to become so severe it kills them?

Also i wonder if without Covid she may have got more help?

Her family said when she was hospitalised a few weeks ago that it was the closing of gyms that did for her mentally. It was those that gave her a reason to eat.

As many as 20 percent of the people who suffer from anorexia will eventually die from it, making anorexia the highest mortality rate of mental health disorders.

I think it's more that she had some challenges. Maybe I'm out of order for thinking this way or don't understand anorexia. But I'd imagine she had mental health challenges

She suffered with it in the decades which can cause complications with her heart, liver and kidneys. I suspect its going to be organ failure linked to anorexia.

That's what got Karen Carpenter in the end wasn't it ?

Don't think I know who she is but its a terrible waste of a young life, who knows what drives someone to that. A close friends of mines daughter had/has an eating disorder, known her all her life, always seemed a happy girl, full of life, started when she was 15-16, she's now 28 and appears to be on the mend, got a new boyfriend 18 months ago and has since put on 2 stone...still very thin but she definitely looks much healthier, although she's unlikely to be able to have children. We all hope she carries on improving but you just never know.

Just been to the Co-Op. Funereal style music playing over the speakers. I mean come on.

Look guys, if I'm here picking up a few bits then I'm obviously not too troubled by the passing of an old fella, and I doubt the ghost of Big Phil will be that offended if you keep playing Roachford and The Mavericks like you normally do.

No chance, I don't like funerals when it's people I cared about and personally knew, let alone a famous really old guy who I was ambivalent towards at best.

I never witnessed a second of the enforced tributes on TV the last 3 days, and I'm not going to start now.

I like the Royal Family, especially Her Maj, but don't think I'll be watching and I'm a bit pissed off the funeral has been arranged for 3pm on a Saturday which is traditionally football time. I mean, its not like they had to go with whenever the Vicar could fit them in is it??
