The R.I.P. Thread

Covid also claimed Gerry Cottle the circus bloke today as well

Paul from the stewarding crew in the North Bank.

Always a friendly face and a friendly welcome.

RIP Paul.

Phil Spector genius music producer and owner of possibly the maddest hair style ever aged 81, died in prison while serving a murder charge

Undoubtedly a genius, but probably one of the most odious creatures to have walked the earth

Unchained Melody was a masterpiece. He made a huge stodgy mess of The Long & Winding Road though.

often the case, currently reading a biography of Jimmy Page, brilliant guitar player and song writer but what a prick

My hero, but another where the question "how famous do you need to be to get away with real sordid stuff" ?
See, Chaplin, Elvis, Jerry Lee Lewis, Woody Allen, Bill Wyman etc. etc.

Spector won’t be Eulogised by me, talented yes but as a human absolutely deplorable horrible individual. This clouds over any talent he had.

If he had died 100 yrs ago then we would still have celebrated the music - the fact that it's more recent makes it more difficult to separate the 2 issues.

Separating art from the artist is always difficult.

Michael Jackson, Bill Cosby, even Rolf Harris.
Time changes things as Caravaggio was a murderer, but no one from then is still here so it's not mentioned though his art is acknowledged.

And Rolf wasn't a great artist even if he did paint an upside down duck for my nephew at Great Ormond St a month before he died at age 5
