The NFL Thread

His biggest problem is that he really comes across as a spoilt, petulant brat. There is no way he is a leader of men, and I don't think that translates to a successful QB who you can win the biggest games with. But the Cardinals had no choice but to pay him, there was no way they were just going to let him walk.

That Rams playoff game was up there as one of the worst QB performances I've seen.
One of the talking heads over here lost his shit when Murray did the Instagram scrub.

"You're out here talking about being a franchise quarterback? Well after that last game you played, I'm not even sure you're an NFL quarterback at all".

There's a clause in his contract that says he has to do 4 hours independent study per week on his Ipad of game film which they can monitor which I think speaks volumes

Watson gets 6 games for being a serial sexual abuser. Ridley gets a year for having a bet on games he wasn't involved in. Fucking joke

Moral of the story: double down on your crimes and don’t seek help for your issues. 🙄

Dolphins lose 2023 1st round and 2024 3rd round draft picks. Tampering with Tom Brady (several times) and Sean Payton.

Preseason highlights and lowlights so far:

Highlight: Jaguars fans chanting "You sick fuck" to Deshawn Watson.

Lowlight: awful late hit out of bounds by Quincy Williams of the Jets on Eagles QB1 Jalen Hurts.

Highlight: Patriots offense looking absolutely putrid so RB James White decides to retire.

Lowlight: injuries.

The hit on Hurts was a disgrace - pre season or not he should have been ejected and get a big fine.

Zach Wilson has ligament damage with an ACL a possibility

At this point I see no point in teams to playing their star QBs, nor any star players, in preseason. Risk v reward is just too much. Only possible slight reason I can see for playing your QB1 is if things have been going poorly in practice and the offense needs reps to get things together. But if that is the case it probably just means your offense is going to suck.

Watson ending up with an 11 game ban, 5m fine. You'll never guess who his return game is against...

They called the ban length on the around the NFL podcast last month, I'm sure it's all completely coincidental that his first game is against the Texans I'm sure.

It's quite plausible that he will get a good reception from Texans fans. He was a great QB, took us to the playoffs (and a 24-0 lead at the Chiefs), and finally wanted out of a very dysfunctional club - something that most fans understood. If we are not competitive this season then fans will cheer for him as a means of venting frustration with the Texans.
If we have won a couple of games and are putting up a good show against the Browns then it will be different.

Awful.

Great tweet from RG3 on how the NFL had a chance to be brave and haven't. Getting a year ban for gambling as a player, at the same time an owner got away with "joking" about paying his head coach to lose, and to then give 11 games for this whilst he continues to show sod all accountability or remorse is staggering to me.

He has used the wording "I settled because some people were triggered" - He comes across as such a spoilt frat boy type date rapist in his press conference he has given. Rancid piece of shit.

His first game back will naturally gain a lot of attention because of who he is and what he did, if it is against the Texans there will be extra spice because he used to play for them. But his reason for leaving Houston is not (as far as we know) connected in any way with his misdeeds, and his desire to get out was announced before the allegations came to light.
The Texans seemed to be on the up, and much of this was because of the play of its QB. He wanted out when he realised how badly run the club really is, and now we are perhaps the worst team in the league. Most fans agreed with his anger towards the club.
So if the Texans are having an even worse season than predicted, then the presence of the guy who had given them hope could lead to some fans venting their anger at the club instead.

Surely the fans should be more disgusted that their ownership enabled a sexual predator than having a poor season?

Watson - Settles 23 civil cases
Texans - NDA disclosure on 30
Major outlets report he saw up to 60 total (all women) during just that period in question L.

NFL Bros online "he didn't do anything, the matter is over."

Good thing is Sports fans often forget things and move on...

Yes we should and yes we are. But the club is an absolute joke. The guy who makes the major decisions used to be the Patriots chaplain! He prays with the owner.

DeAndre Hopkins, JJ Watt, and Watson all wanted out. Hopkins was given away in one of the worst trades ever.
