Just never got going this year, any of them.
Did they have a coaching change that I missed? I didn't quite expect them to be as good as last year but definitely didn't think they'd be quite so inept.
There's not one single answer, but in terms of importance in my view:
Lost OC Reich to the Colts and QB coach Defilippo to the Vikings. Didn't seem such a massive thing at the time as Doug calls the plays on offense, but...
32nd in the league on 1Q points when the first 15 plays are scripted, coupled with the Colts putting up 30 points most weeks tells you the impact Reich had. His replacement Groh will be gone at the end of the season and probably replaced by Flip who had a great rapport with Wentz now he's been bulletted by Minnesota. You aren't going to come from behind every week
Had awful injuries, particularly to the secondary. Played a number of games with only one of the first choice 5 that play there and with three CB's who were on the street a couple of weeks earlier, choices 5,6&7. Last week versus the Cowboys only 5 of the first 11 on defense started/played any part in the game. On offense RB's Ajayi and Sproles have both missed most of the season and Clement has either been out or hampered. Mike Wallace was supposed to be the deep threat new signing, but he was lost in Week 2.
Lost games against the Titans and Panthers with 2 td leads in the 4Q and a 90% win likelihood. Meant that after London they were 4-4 instead of 6-2
Wentz has had a decent season numbers wise, but didn't produce in some big moments, wasn't as mobile as still recovering from his ACL and now appears to have been playing with a fracture to his back
Controversially Wentz targets Ertz too much. He's had a career season and will break the NFL record for Tight End receptions but too often the play seems to be to just wait for him to get open and ends in a sack. Jeffrey in particular is rumoured to be pissed off with this.
Golden Tate, looked a bad trade from the outset, does similar things to Jeffrey and Agholor and is either underused or just takes snaps from Nelly. Not his fault, but just a silly piece of business when the team already didn't look that good, spending a 3rd round pick on a player they can't afford to keep.
