The Music Thread Strikes Back

Christian Lofflers Shellac/reworks album is something I am really liking at the moment. Very chilled and relaxing, and an interesting take on classical music;

saw Mogwai did a limited run of ZEROZEROZERO on cd and had to go for it (the RSD release was usurped by scalpers as usual, likewise their recent EPx3 release, both of which ended up being out of reach, or cost was unjustifiable). Its a really nice album. Not a patch on As the Love Continues, which is simply amazing still to my ears, but it is a really pleasant musical journey. I do like their soundtracks - Les revenaunts is really good, and their soundtrack to Kin is superb. I also still really like the Atomic soundtrack they did.

Public Service Broadcasting will be touring again in october. I took an age debating whether to go see them at the institute late last year. Decided against it, partially as their latest album doesn't grab me to the extent the preceding 3 did.

avalanches touring the uk this summer. annoyingly playing nowhere near the midlands!

Girl Talk is dropping (@Paul get your witticism or gif in now! ;)) a new album with a host of vocalists next friday. Free Court Press is surely going to be awesome, but I can't see any retailers listing it, so am wondering whether it will be a streaming only release? Really hoping not though.

Intrigued. What sort of musical style are they going for this time? Bit of rock+funk?

This is on par with Puddle of Mudd's version of Nirvana's About a Girl...

Just in the pub and the music Video for Kayleigh by Marillion comes on. Fish really was a scruffy git.

A mix of all that stuff. There’s a couple of songs on the new album that genuinely wouldn’t look out of place on BSSM. Give it a go, mate.

My brother sold his house. Really nice bloke. Steve Rothery went to the same school as me but he left before I joined as he is even older than me.

Went down a Youtube rabbit hole tonight and ended up here

That song is strong competition alongside Don't Stop Believing and Don't Stop Me Now for crimes against my eardrums

Local radio station plays jazz in the daytime, and indie rock overnight. "Indie" can mean all sorts of things, but I was more than a little surprised last night when the 20-something host played a track he had just heard for the first time.

Carly Simon - "You're so vain"

It's surprising sometimes, considering I'm a 70s rocker, I've only recently discovered Fanny......the female American band I mean, not a lady's front bottom, still searching for that😄

So fucking embarrassed by this but I heard this song the other day and now it lives rent free in my head
