The Music Thread Strikes Back

Listened to the first three tracks. Definitely a Brave New World vibe but better. Rather like it, but please guys look at what you did in the mid eighties and realise from Beast to Seventh Son the songs were God. Some more of that please.

I went to see Genesis last night. Brilliant light show, superb music from Rutherford ,Banks and co, but Phil Collins ? Where do i start, he looked so ill, never stood up once he was seated throughout the concert, looked like he has lost all his teeth, drawn and haggard. He made Keith Richards look like a health guru. There is something so very wrong with him, its such a shame to see him like this.

Heard Genesis (talking) on the radio a while ago, Collins sounded pissed as a rat.....but wondering if its something more concerning.
Mate of mine went last night, said it was great but he's a real fanboy.

Phil Collins is really ill, sadly he doesn't have long left.

First gig back for me tomorrow, Tim Burgess at the Hare and Hounds in Kings Heath. Loads coming up over the next couple of months.

Made the mistake of watching Elton John do his pub-singer Elton John impression again.

Re-discovered Witchita lineman after watching Jools Holland on Saturday. Its pretty much a perfect song - covered a million times but Glen does it best I think.

I was amazed when I saw him on Later a few years ago, always knew he was a gifted country/pop writer/performer but was surprised at what a brilliant guitar player he was

Brilliant guitar player - possibly that’s the same appearance as they showed on Saturday. His solo during witchita was brilliant.

Yeah it was, think it was just before the dementia took a real hold.

Saw Turin Brakes at Manchester Cathedral on Friday night, 20th anniversary of The Optimist LP (plus some other hits and some new stuff). On top form.

A slightly obscure venue but the acoustics worked perfectly. My mind has forgotten through lockdown however how fucking annoying people at gigs are.

He was indeed a fantastic guitar player and singer. I really liked one of his later songs before he died. It's a beautiful acoustic song.
