The Music Thread Strikes Back

I watched the Supersonic documentary last night for the first time on Netflix - brilliant to watch.

I'd have one and two the other way around and then spend days thinking about where to rank everything else.

Loads missing from that for me and order really out, more often than not I'd put Rockin' Chair number 1 after that it'd probably change by the day!

Quite tempted to spend far too much time doing that.

I've tried in the past, had spreadsheets the lot! Gave up in the end taking too much time!

Rockin' Chair is brilliant, one of the few Oasis songs I still listen to regularly. Very odd to think it was only a B side.

Christ the Guardian comments on that top 30.

I'm not sure I'd have much from Morning Glory in my top 10. I loved it when it came out but I'm really not much of a fan of that album these days. Cast No Shadow or Some Might Say maybe.

Slide Away would probably be my number 1. Rockin' Chair would also be up there. I'd have to put Going Nowhere in my top 10 too, for some reason I've always loved that song.

Oasis haven't even got 30 great songs. A small handful then loads of mediocre samey sounding ones.

Looking back, my opinion of Oasis now will always be tainted by the fact that they were so incredibly dull live every time that I saw them. Crowd full of knob heads too which generally didn't help.

I'll have to do my own version of that, but TBF it's not a bad list. I think it needs Cloudburst, Take Me Away and The Importance of Being Idle in there though.

Oasis were our 'artist of the week' a few weeks back and some of their stuff has aged beautifully.

I don't disagree, though to be fair you could say that about any band you don't rate so highly.

a mate of mine always called them a good pub band who somehow convinced a lot of people they were something more.

still if you like listening to compilations of beatles and slade songs, what's not to like.

Led Zep have won their case for ripping off the riff for Stairway to Heaven, so I listened to Tauras by Spirit. Life is full of coincidences

they must have good lawyers (I'm sure they have).

album delivered this week with a few others. looking forward to some self isolation

ha, yeah JD song titles cover the full range (incubation as well)

I was gonna post this too to cheer everyone up but I think there's a limit to what I can achieve on here!

Our house picks an artist for the week every Tuesday (theres a jar with 52 artists in them that my other half and I have chosen - A-Z x 2. X proved bloody tricky..). This week's artist is The Zutons.

Always enjoy their debut album but their follow up really is so so poor. A classic case of the tricky 2nd album! Only one stand out song and Amy Whitehouse nicked that and made it better anyway.

Who Killed The Zutons? is a classic album. Weirdly I was listening to Zuton Fever on the way in to work this morning! I have never listened to their second album so couldn't possibly comment.

Yeah it's a cool album. Dont bother with the 2nd - it's not Sam's Town levels of 'shit 2nd album' but it manages to be totally devoid of any of the charm of their first.

new album due out end of May. get your orders in.
