The Manager Sacked/Hired Thread 2023/24

5 and a half year deal! Why do clubs, especially lower down, do things like this?
This was about Darren Moore at Port Vale. Relegated at the weekend and his record there is P16 W2 D3 L11.

His record this season including his time at Huddersfield (who also look likely to go down) is P39 W5 D14 L20

Amorim to West Ham?

5 more years to turn it around. Nonsense deal

Looks desperate, but they've lost 5 of their last 6 and probably need a win at the weekend to stay in the play offs so you can see why.

I do get it, a good mate is a Barnsley fan and he's not been impressed at all (got that McGhee 96/97 thing of being rancid at home and ok away too, which means most of your fans don't see the good bits in person). Unusual though.

I mean you could argue we might have sacked DJ in 2002 ahead of the playoffs as he was never winning them. Would have been pretty radical though!

West Brom did it five years ago and had a caretaker in the playoffs, lost unsurprisingly. Derby did as well in 16/17 although that sacking was unusual for many reasons.

I get the poor run of form but I can't think of a time sacking the manager and relying on a caretaker has taken a team up?

West Ham probably would have stayed up in 2003 if they'd sacked Glenn Roeder earlier and given it to Trevor Brooking.

He certainly wouldn't have been on the verge of tears if they got battered 0-5 away at Fulham.

Good guy Neill.... utterly bewildering they should sack him now.

He’s been pretty rubbish overall sadly. Their keeper has been phenomenal by the sounds of it and earned them lots of points that they haven’t deserved. Bold move though with no replacement, basically saying Devaney is a better bet in the play offs (as long as they get there)

Must have had tickets to a West End show and looking for someone to pay for his flights

No need to worry the fan base about interest in your manager from elsewhere, we'll sit down in the summer and sort things out when everyone is less stressed and busy.

These feckers haven't got a clue....

They had proper interest to fight back against though in Bayern...

Still interested to see how they cope with the PSR stuff and not fuck Unai off enough for him to do a Lopetegui

It's not a new contract, just triggered an existing option to protect themselves

As if that would stop him leaving for a giant?
