The Manager Sacked/Hired Thread 2015/16

I think Ryan Giggs would have been a more popular appointment among Manchester United fans. He has been assistant to two managers and took temporary charge after Moyes was sacked. Will Giggs stay when Mourinho takes over?

He needs to apply his trade lower down first I think. Managers parachuted into top roles for there first job rarely seem to work, Pep being the only exception to that which I can think of. Actually, Giggs doesn't even strike me as good manager material...more like Bryan Robson I suspect (time can only tell)

Pep did have the benefit of a very successful season in charge at Barca B with Tito Villanova as his assistant. He wasn't first choice to take over after Rijkaard according to Michael Laudrup's biography.

The big risk with Mourinho is his unwillingness to trust youngsters. LVG has been a disaster, but he has given some very promising young players an opportunity.

Fair comment. Giggs has been the assistant manager at Old Trafford for a couple of years now, and I would imagine at some time he will want to manage a club, and maybe you are right he may have to start further down the footballing ladder, but having spent all his career at the very top of the tree, he may not want to manage in league one or two.

I think a lower end Prem team should be the right place for him to kick-start his managerial career although two years under Jose would do him well too. Maybe he could take his first job overseas...

Or maybe a mid table championship team in the Midlands...

Should be confirmed at 1pm when Utd have to announce the news at the US Stock Exchange

Leeds close to appointing Karl Robinson as their new coach

Good riddance to LvG, an extremely strange man who's played pretty much exclusively awful football for two years.

Don't really rate Karl Corden, never got the hype there.

Somebody will know the exact amount but I think they had a record amount of halftime 0-0's, was always going to end in tears.
