The Live Match Discussion Thread: 2019/2020

Yeah because that what I said, wasn’t it?
I've never even been to the UK. Your post absolutely reads like I, therefore, care less than you.

I think it's impossible to 'rank' support TBH. Does it matter if they're not from Liverpool or if they don't have family ties to the city? Support is a very personal thing.

Not suggesting that Liverpool don't have glory hunters as fans, but every club has fans that aren't from the town/city, family ties etc. If they follow their club, have their own emotional ties to the club, that's enough.

I wasn't born in Wolverhampton. I wasn't even born in the Midlands. I didn't even live here until I was 8, I was the first person in my family to support Wolves. If I ever moved away from the area, I won't stop supporting Wolves.

Fans who hide away during barren years can fuck off - but that's a behaviour of the individual, not anything to do with genetics or geographical location. And of course, you'll get more of those who 'support' Liverpool, Man Utd etc. That's the glory hunting I can't stand - but we get that with Wolves too.

I've plenty of Liverpool supporting friends and I'm chuffed for them. Can't stand the club myself, mind.... :icon_lol:

Well that’s open to conjecture. Look it’s a theory does a passive Wolves from Wolverhampton care less than you yes probably. I support Green Bay in the NFL does a Green Bay fan in Green Bay care more than me probably yes.
Learn the difference between the words “probably” and “definitely”
The point in case you missed it was someone with a connection via locality, family roots etc will probably feel wins or losses more as opposed to someone who’s just decided to support a big club for no real reason.
As said it depends on how seriously you take football.

At no point did I say it mattered or that I had a problem with it in fact my first comment on the issue was each to their own, my point is an interpretation and nor would I say I’m more passionate about Wolves because I was born and grew within 5 miles of the ground reality is it impossible to measure. The point I made is you’re more likely to enjoy success more if you have genuine connection as opposed to just supporting ie Man Utd when you were born and bread in say Norfolk.

The distinction is that you don't have a number of other options in your locality, your not from South Wales or Essex who chose to ignore teams close by in favour of a big one because they win things. It's like being from the US and supporting the Yankees, Cowboys or Lakers.

To Langers initial question yes it does, very much so to me. At school you'd ask a kid why they support Liverpool and the answer was always "because they are the best" that's just wanky and to this day I have zero respect for them or their ilk

They were letting fireworks off in Cannock last night. Absolutely embarrassing.

I wasn't watching the match last night but knew when it had finished as there where massive cheers on our estate followed by a round of 'championes, championes...'

I bet not a single one of them has ever stepped foot in Liverpool.

Bloke at work was very happy. Born round here, but to be fair he has done at least 10 home games for them this season. He also blagged a ticket for our cup semi-final and his missus made him give it up for a Wolves fan so not a complete idiot.

Albion are playing like a bunch of mates having a kick about in the park.

I hope they keep doing this and drop all three points. It would be ace if Brentford got into an automatic promotion place and Albion lost in the playoffs. Combine that with Villa relegation and I might have to raise a glass or two in celebration.

Brilliant quote from whoever's on Sky there, "Well Brentford when they're leading at half time, 13 of their 14 wins have ended in victories". Mind blowing.

The Shit have been just that, Brentford will be gutted if they don't see this out. Just had a look at their new stadium for the first time and it's fucking revolting.

Had to be weird shape to fit into that awkward site to be fair to them, I don't mind it personally, not exactly pretty but at least it's got a bit of character. Always seems a bit of a fools errand anyway trying to make a stadium look 'nice', not many achieve it.

It’s an odd shape and multi coloured seats never looks good.

Mitrovic has put a serious dent in Fulham's automatic promotion chances no matter what happens in their match against Leeds. Blatant elbow in Ben Whites face less than a minute into the match. Didn't get sent off but is bound to be banned retrospectively for it, disgraceful behaviour.

Yep shocking.

Nice from Helder to create the goal
