The Live Match Discussion Thread: 2019/2020

Really have no idea why people care about his hair so much

The bigger issue is he usually follows up a performance like that with about 3 non descript ones.

Aye. Or on an even more micro level, he'll play a pass like the one he did to Rashford then spend the next 15 minutes showboating, giving the ball away, not bothering to track. To his credit he didn't do that tonight albeit it's only a 30 minute cameo.

He's immensely talented, it's up to him though. It's not a coaching thing, it's not a tactical thing, it's him.

I've always thought Pogba is more about the supporting cast. He's someone that sparks off quality around him rather than raising what is around him. Good players with him at the World Cup he raises his game and is as good as any of them. Jesse Lingard and Luke Shaw at United he phones it in

He plays in a pretty average team with a below average manager. I think a lot of it is tactical and technical from a starting point. Then he’s got to make sure he stays fit as he has had injury issues this season of course.

Not doubting that he can be inconsistent in his performance, but not to the extremes that Graeme Souness will have you believe. One of the most impressive footballers I have seen live.

When Man Utd came down here last year summed him up. Wasn’t interested in doing the running in midfield giving our wingbacks the freedom of Molineux. Then you look at Moutinho for us playing the left side of the 3 (in the same game) and running his bollocks off, getting out to the wide player. Man Utd werent good enough to carry him, certainly not against a well organised and disciplined team (with quality to go with it) like us.

It's more than that. He played twice at Molineux within a few weeks last year and had zero interest in either game

Edit- to YWs post

Inconsistency in creative players I can deal with. Christian Eriksen is inconsistent. Unless you're serious, world beating elite like De Bruyne, this happens.

It's Pogba blatantly fucking around and not trying that annoys me with him. It happens far too often.

Pogba IS a creative player.

I’ve seen Pogba twice at Molineux (and also in their game against Watford around Christmas) and thought he was a magnificent footballer after all of them :icon_lol:

You still like Mesut Özil, what can I say :)

I know he's a creative player, as I say I don't expect him to dominate every game, score/assist all the time, the nature of his game and the amount of risk he takes at times doesn't lend itself to that. But grow up a bit, he's 27 and behaves like someone half that age a lot of the time (not even on about off the field stuff here, that doesn't really bother me, not my problem as I don't support United). He's nothing like as funny when he starts dicking around in the middle of a match as he thinks he is.

Can't say I've thought much of him in any of the games at Molineux, a few little moments here and there but it's not enough. Well, it can't have been, they didn't win any of them.

I like(d) Ozil when he was good. I just pick him in PTG now because I know how much it winds you up ;)

He’s been injured all season! I’m not sure what more he could have done so far. I think his main issue is his agent stokes up nonsense that creates in image around his character.

I enjoy watching the way he approaches games. You might say he needs to grow up, but he was the leader of that French team which won the World Cup, and he took his role very seriously. I think most would find it difficult playing alongside Fred on a consistent basis. He’s not the type of player that dominates games in that way (not in my view anyway). I think he also suffers from the stereotypes that he should be like Vieira etc in that respect.

Can't say I thought anything of Pogba in his games against us or at the World Cup, I think he is terribly overrated. I'm not sure Man United fans would rate him anywhere near as highly if he hadn't become the one that got away when he left for Juve. Tbh I thought he was overrated at Juve also, he is too inconsistent, doesn't contribute enough and relies on hard-working players like Marchisio (who I thought was very underrated) to prosper. Luxury player for me.

Watford-Leicester hasn't been very exciting but Watford had a great chance at the end of the half - lovely pass by Capoue, can't remember the last time I have seem him do anything like that. Good chance for Watford as I type this with a second good pass by Capoue.

Watford really should be in front, Sarr has been a constant threat but has lacked a final ball, and he should have scored one on one. Deeney has missed a header you'd expect him to bury also.

I like Sarr, good 1v1 but also gets in very good positions. Think he will only improve

Watford balls up a chance at a three on two and Leicester counter for Chilwell to smash in the winner. Great hit!

Fecking Watford - that's cost me 3 points in the prediction league :icon_evil:

We aren't going to catch Leicester so them winning was irrelevant.

Win and we are eight points back. Of course there is next to no chance but its something to aim for I guess!

Arsenal look a bit better today. Helps that they aren't playing City though.

I would be aiming at Chelsea who are eminitely catchable though no problem with reaching for the highest we can get to
