The Goggle Box Thread

Graham McTavish (SoK), Joseph Gilgun (Cassidy) and Pip Torrens (Starr) stole the show in Preacher, they were all fucking brilliant. Excellent casting as well to stay as true to the comics as possible.

If you like Preacher cos it was batshit crazy it's deff worth a look at Blood Drive. Totally insane and brilliant. Only did one season, on purpose.
Another one worth a look (although it isn't as good as Preacher or Blood Drive but it is batshit crazy) is That Dirty Black Bag. Liked the first season quite a lot, three are planned but I don't think 2nd has been approved as yet.

Did you ever collect or deal in comics?

And season 4 is fine up until the last episode, the ending is super wank. I need to re-read the comics, I can't remember how it ended.
I see my use of VG+ has given me away! Although comics have never been my scene so I don't buy them to sell I occasionally end up with some that I sell.
Been selling online since 2001, all sorts. But, yeah, terms like VG+ I might use for OOP books, games, DVD's, whatever.

Another bonkers show that's well worth a look (I should warn you that it makes no attempt at historical accuracy, well maybe 1%) is Britannia. They made 3 seasons and it had the legs for more but got canceled.

Personally, I thought Britannia was shite. Admittedly I only watched half a dozen episodes of S1...

If you didn't like it after 6 episodes then you won't like it ever. It's not for everyone. Personally I loved it. Fantastic cast, generally excellent script, great music, production values were as good as they could be considering it obviously wasn't a high budget series, well paced and totally divorced from reality.

I disagree with everything other than the last part. The acting was wooden, scripting poor, can't really remember the music tbh. What I do remember is sat watching it and taking the piss.

Madder than a box of frogs.

Wouldn't do if we all liked the same stuff I suppose.

I would have loved Britannia to have been good. I love Roman history and did a module on Roman Britain for my degree so it should have appealed to me.

But it was shite, all over the place with pretty much zero redeeming features. A massive shame. Its just so... odd. Not really sure what they were trying to achieve with it TBH.

Crazy that although it's around 50 years old, I, Claudius is still comfortably the best Ancient Roman drama ever made.

Not just Donovan, there is a scene played out to a Cream track with a whole bunch of Roman troops tripping their nuts off after being deliberately poisoned by a couple of AWOL Romans who had gone native. And various other great songs from that genre/era. They used a different title track for each season as well, I can only remember that one season used Children of the Revolution, forget the other one. The Donovan track (forget name) was just used for the first season.

I did point out it makes no attempt to be historically accurate.
Wish I hadn't mentioned it now!

As my ex Linds said when I told her it got canceled 'they made that for people like us and there aren't many like us'. It was a wild roller coaster (for us) and, it seems, a waste of time for you lot :(

Anyway I still recommend Blood Drive and That Dirty Black Bag.

I thought Britannia would most likely appeal to fans of GoT tbh.
