Event TV to me is stuff like watching the first man on the moon, when JFK got shot, royal weddings, world cup final, etc.

That's not scripted drama events, they're unscripted real life events. Even if they are dramatic.

I remember really liking Xfiles and everyone talking about it at school - then all of a sudden it went a bit weird and everyone stopped watching it, (might have coincided with discovering beer and clubbing though).

I do remember some of the episodes were amazing at the time, not sure I'd feel the same now watching them back.

I went back and watched them all again when the new X Files reboot happened around 2016. They were definitely cutting edge in the 90s and had some really interesting one off storylines but they seem dated now. The new season 11 was also a bit of a let down
There were a few shows that we cherished in the 90s because they were different, like 'American Gothic'. I loved that as a teen in the late 90s.
When I went back and rewatched it as an adult, it wasnt the same.

Best series of the 90s was Dark Skies, I did actually watch that so I lied before.

EDIT: Turns out there were 19 episodes and I don't remember watching that many. So maybe half a lie. Christ the 90s are a blur.

I really liked Dark Skies too. First thing I ever saw Jeri Ryan in.

I'm my teens and twenties I collected DVDs so I watched plenty of weird TV shows, a lot of which only got one season.

Stuff like Wonderfalls, about a gift shop at Niagara falls where the toys came to life and spoke to the girl who worked there. Dead Like Me about a bunch of grim reapers, and Alias, starring Jennifer Garner and Bradley Cooper in one of their first ever roles.

Well I have got almost to the end of Series 4 in my re-watch and it doesn't feel dated (bar massive mobile phones, and huge use of VHS!).

As I remember the quality was pretty consistent until the end of the first movie. So series 6-9 were definitely weaker, especially after Duchovny fucked off.

Early to mid 90s was ruled by X-files and then Buffy took over for me.

Mind you my Saturday mornings in the early eighties were obsessed with Star Fleet so I may not be entirely stable...

Forgot Buffy started that early. I did binge it miles after it started though, it was good. Angel was good as well (the more Charisma Carpenter the better).

The film isn't canon, and Kirsty Swanson is no Sarah Michelle Gellar. Also, alas, no Alyson Hannigan in that film.

Best series was Season 2 when Angel became Angelus again, along with Series 5 when Dawn is the key and the insanely sexual Glory is trying to annihilate the multiverse. Although series 3 had Eliza Dushku...

I’ve been watching some old Buffy episodes recently, if you can look past the dodgy make up and the really obvious stunt doubles doing all the fighting it still holds up pretty well
