Showtime are bringing Dexter back for a 10 episode Season 9.
They have a 2nd chance to give the show a proper ending after the disaster that was the Season 8 finale.

The worst ending to a show I've ever seen. The whole thing largely fell apart when the initial writers walked away - it was sensational viewing beforehand.

Yeah, although I'm not 100% sure you'd get that unless you watch the rest of the episodes. If you just jump into S3 cold you won't have a clue what's going on for the first 5 minutes, although most of it you'll get the gist of throughout the episode.
